Cheers Cliff, I did digest that thread a while ago, but I'll revisit it as my memory aint so great these days. Not only that but my memory aint so great these days.Bonzo, thanks for the info. about the additional washers. I had bought an IWIS chain from (then) Andy the chain man, but the chain pins were too close to the windings for comfort so I stayed with the Alton supplied chain. The washers will solve that.

Hi folks, This weekend I plan to commence the fitment of my Alton starter in combination with the existing Maney outrigger. As I've not stripped a Commando primary before and I have limited imperial sockets could somebody kindly tell me what spanner sizes (or A/F sizes) the clutch and rotor...www.accessnorton.com
I used a Belleville washer on the crankshaft nut as you can see here. So far it seems to be good.

Where did you get the belleville washer from? - and did you use one on the clutch?

I got them locally and yes I did eventually put one on the clutch centre as well when I put in the CNW one. I just took a look in my washers collection in case I'd bought more that one of each, but no joy I'm afraid. You should be able to get them on Ebay or similar easy enough though.
