What Did You Do With Your Commando Today?

Indeed. We rode back in the A.C. C.A.A. truck , I unscrewed the points cover to find a loose crimp on the black/white wire . Easy fix . This is a high vibration area . Pool owner said no worries , come by tomorrow aft . 32 C.
Seems like the same problem I had with my MG when I was driving and then it just quit. Wife and I pushed it down a dirt road to get off the main road. Father-in-law showed up and pulled us to his mom's house down the road with a rope. By the time we had the car in grandmas garage the tow truck showed up and i decided to just have him take it home for me to work on instead of grandma's garage. Turns out it was the low tension wire in the distributor that is still outfitted with points. Easy fix. One single white wire and he fired right up and ran smooth again. Could have done it at the side of the road but it was getting dark and my wife was with me. Torontonian . I can imagine how annoyed your wife would have been in that heat stranded on the road...maybe she decided to walk home it being only 1km.

Decided to clean up my bike a little and install Matt's dual coil kit. So much cleaner finish and I took the opportunity to tidy up the wiring under the tank. The kit came with NGK plugs and new wires. I guess I'm using NGK plugs now instead of Champions.

Yesterday I rerouted my oil lines... flipped and modified the oil junction block (bent the pipes) and made a bracket to attach a inline magnetic oil filter canister to suit a oil cooler tower & plumbing that I fitted a while back...the alloy magnetic filter canister can be serviced/cleaned out from time to time....🧲

I said the CAA tow would be here in a minute or 2 so I then put her in the back seat with the A.C. , whilst we put the Norton in the front wheel chuck , then the driver strapped the bike in tight . Hydraulic small platform lift up and into the back deck of the tow truck . Fast and efficient . Yes she said it ruined her day but I said I'll fix it and we can do it all tomorrow . Calmed her out .

Got in 2 swims in the pool , beers and souvlaki and took off at the first thunder , Twisted the throttle hard on Gardiner eastbound to home in spitting rain .

Shane,
Nice work.2 questions.Does this magnetic filter used in conjunction with the standard oil filter? I don’t know what the canister is between your carbs?
It might be the photo
Thanks,Mike
One more. What type of hose clamps are those at the junction block?

Yes... the return line feeds into the magnetic filter ..up through to the cooler and into the oil filter.....
The "canister/carbs" is a arrow muffler on a bike behind the Commando 😉
The clamps are OETIKER

Serviced the OPRV as it was weeping from the washer. It was proper rattley (possibly because there was only 1 shim in?). I tried a few more shims, eventually settling on 3, for the subdued rattle (as per Mick Hemmings' video), and with new washers and a test run found no leak 👍

Also, as much as I love singeing my fingers on a toasty cylinder head, I added a tiny cable tie to the Madass one carb gantry to allow a less painfull tick over adjustment 👍

Also, during cleaning, spotted a (difficult to photograph) hole in the drive side silencer 👎

After going with rain the blinkers stopped working.

I drove the bike yesterday, using the blinkers as if they where worquing and the left one came back to life!

Once back at home, i sprayed brake cleaner and use the switch, the other side came to life too.

These old switches easily corrode.

I just checked if they work and they do.

I am glad I didn't rush to dismantle the unit as was nothing broken.

Could you actually hear the OPRV rattling? Also could not figure out where the hole in the silencer was.Was a bolt rubbing against it?

With the carb gantry you are better to set it up so you adjust the idle with the Amal throttle stop screws (as recommended in the instructions)
Also in your picture it looks like the top alloy plate of your gantry is not sitting flush with the carb tops ?
