TTI box shift pattern swap

CW CW? Foreign language! Lol.
I wrote on here about how I found out about my selector drum! Lol makes me laugh to think about it even now.
I have rearsets, with my gear pedal mount facing up & my gear lever below the box, with the rod at a 45% angle.
Whatever Alan says it does not foul.

Chris
Ps tti offered to send me a new selector. I brought mine from Minovation who at that time did not have stock.

When I phoned Bruce and told him my shift problem, he sent me the correct drum in the next mail. I sent him the old one a couple of months later. My Seeley frame might be narrower than a Commando. So the footrest and gear change are probably back more behind the box, causing the path of the rod on the gearchange to foul on the end of the box, if it crosses over. Fiddling the gear-change levers was the first thing I tried, when I wanted to reverse the shift direction. I could have done it that way, but I would have had a bolt sticking into my ankle and it would have been ugly. If you can have the driving parts of the gear change one up and one down, instead of parallel, it reverses the direction. Or if you can simply use a gear lever pointing backwards instead of the parallelogram set-up, you get the same result. On a Commando, you might be able to do that. But on my Seeley, my feet are probably closer in.

Bruce is excellent to deal with. Anyone with those sorts of smarts is always OK. He is not a fly-by-night.

I am confused. Is that CCW when viewed from the left hand side or right hand side?:)

Haha

Update:

As I bought the gearbox from Minnovation Racing, that’s who I contact. Martin could not have been more apologetic and helpful. New drum is now on order from Bruce.

Thanks Eddie

Got the rolling chassis in 2009 (with the wrong wheels) Took me a fair while to finish it.
My ride of choice now but I enjoy the odd run out on the North.

Nigel, yes it was me who posted and those are my pics.
Really easy job, Bruce sent me the 1 up 4 down barrel, as it as a cassette type system , really easy and quick to swap from the 1 down 4 up barrel that he supplied the box with.
As Kenny pointed out, most guys have the 1 down 4 up barrel and reverse the shifter lever , I already had rear sets and wanted the standard Norton pattern.
I just returned the barrel to Bruce as soon as I was done.
Regards Mike

My gearbox might be slightly longer, being 6 speed. As it is, to get a straight push with the levers vertical - the rose joint of the linkage is bolted to the inside of the lever on the box with a spacer and the outside of the lever on the footrest with a spacer.

Do most guys who race Commandos, do it with the footrests in the standard position ? Or do they use rear sets and simply reverse the gear lever on the box without using a separate lever and linkage ?

Some use rearsets some use the lever reversed , none I know of use the original position footrests.

My rearsest are mounted on the modified Z plates

I don't mind racing a bike with the shift pattern reversed, but I don't like it if I ever get serious. Everything happens too quickly to be concentrating on that. With two-strokes, I simply ride them long enough for my brain to change before I get stuck into it. They are a different ride anyway - nothing like a Commando.

Back in the 70s a young lad by the name of Peter Williams did ok with a single disc.

But what did he know eh ?!
