Just got the Commando back from her weekly playtime. Made about a 40mi. area circuit with motoring perfection beneath me..... There has to be a catch.. Right?... There is being that @ 5k on the tach she's busting the clutch at full throttle.
With temps rolling in the mid-90's lately I believe I'll not be poking hard until cooler weather arrives. Its an annual thing which I know is coming, so no surprise there. Like pulling/cleaning the carbs bi-annually and numerous other maintenance tasks. The old gal is plain old fashioned sweet to ride..... Can't decide whether I'm bragging or weeping about it. Guess bragging because of having enjoyed it so much.

No need to knock as long as I uphold my part of our bargain. It is like a long term wife which tells you quickly when you don't do as she wishes.

Seeing the tales you guys are telling are getting me frothing at the mouth to get this machine out.

Several parts to this sentence I’m not sure what you mean “There is being that @ 5k on the tach she's busting the clutch at full throttle.”

Well illf8ed.... Snap roll throttle.. 5000rpm is all I'll allow the old thing to wind to= clutch beginning to slip at this point in 3rd & 4th with WOT.... Need to pull and clean the plates. This has always been pretty much an annual chore.
Yes I nurse the aging motor along. 5k is a big enough thrill for me.

I had similar with the clutch. Finally bit the bullet and bought all new friction and steel plates a few years ago. Been working flawlessly since.
Now what is “snap roll throttle”?

A man can do no wrong having an enjoyable ride.... I prefer my Commando, but accept doing it on the GL also. Happiness is where you find it.

Rode mine to work, put 50 rounds on it today, and uncharacteristically for August, cool-ish in the 70's. It loves those numbers, it serenaded me with that growl, telling me so.
