And for all you Harley owners out there: never use a pneumatic impact wrench on the crankshaft nut on Evo engines. The danger here is knocking off the magnets that are glued to the inside of the rotor, which is attached to the end of the cranshaft.

A trick I’ve used to prevent crankshafts and camshafts from turning is to wedge a rag between the sprocket and chain. Then a “breaker” bar, socket and smooth even pressure can be used to remove the nut attaching the sprocket to the shaft.
