That makes sense. That I could do easily. I've got lots of soldering tools. I find one of my favorites lately is the butane torch I got, but it really puts out the heat so you have to be careful. I've got some very large old irons too, plug in, not the indirectly heated type.
 
I used to carry two hose clamps so I could get home with a broken throttle cable. One clamp held the outer sheath to the handlebar, and the other held the inner cable to the twist grip. Wouldn't work for a clutch unfortunately, I recall more than once nursing my way home with minimum shifts after bump starting. Good thing I was young.
 
Was on a trip with a guy on a 750 who broke his throttle upper cable. Used the choke cable jimmied to get us back.

I've done it on my ES2, choke lever for throttle with the bottom end switched over to the main slide. Great for cruise control, not so good in stop start rush hour Wellington traffic.
