Replaced my old Lucas rear signal lights with Emglo units (from British Cycle Supply). Trouble is they stay on solid on either side, including fronts.

The old units front & rear still flash but "chrome" is flaky.

Can anyone suggest why the Emglo units won't flash? Connections are good.
Thanks,
Stephen

Try replacing the Emgo bulbs with the bulbs from the old units. The bulbs that are in signals can change the rate of flash - it's possible that the new bulbs aren't providing enough resistance to make the flasher function.

The original bulbs are just 21 watts I think? The 1157 bulbs will sometimes stay on. I use a # 536 flasher good for up to six lamps and that gives me the proper blink rate at any speed, even when the engine isn't running.

A clever thing those old blinkers... if one lamp burns out the other won't flash. Lets the rider know if the rear bulb has packed it in.
