Hello and a happy new year to you all!

I bought a electronic speedometer…..

the one from Legendary Motorcylces with the GPS-antenna.

So i will get rid off my speedometer gearbox.

Here is my question:

When i remove the speedometer gearbox [060627] have i just to keep the hat spacer

[NM13270] in place? Nothing else to do....?

Or

I remove the gearbox AND the hat spacer and put instead in

a spacer with 7.9mm length, 14.7mm bore and 25mm outside diameter

[or 2 x rear spindle washer (NM19266)]?

Am i right?

Chris

The only thing i did on mine was to change the wheel bearings to sealed bearings

I'm interested in this and curious to see how it works.
I assume it's the Norton one? Where does the antenna go?

Are you saying you left the gearbox in?

no i removed the gearbox and top hat spacer. I also mounted the antenna on top of the tail light fairing with its size and black IMHO it is a nice fit

You might want to put a washer in place of the speedo gearbox as a spacer just so the swing arm doesn’t have to flex to make up that space.

thanks for the replies....
ad MichaelB: i try to put the antenna on the fat crossbar of the frame between the petroltank and the fork yoke. if it doesn`t fit there i`ll put the antenna under my hump of the seat

I feel that the thickness lost from the gear box and spacer is a non issue

this does surprise me......cause the hat spacer is 7.9mm long [axial length] ..... i would doublecheck that, cause me thinking you bend the swingarm inwards

Wouldn't the rear wheel be free to slide on the axle and disengage from the drive paddles without a spacer?

It seems to me the clamping force is on the top of the hat, outer part. And the part of it that fits inside the spacer locates the axle.

The “brim” is the only part that has any effect on the distance from the wheel to the swing arm the top is the part that centers the drive to the wheel.

Putting a washer in was just a suggestion. The swing arm will bend by the thickness of the speedo drive housing when the axle bolt is tightened.

And i would venture to say not much but i have seen where you have to force the wheel spacer in as the assembly is to wide
