Hi,

This question is about the gear box cable assembly on the rear wheel for the speedometer cable. PN 06.0627
The existing assembly has come loose.
How does the threaded assembly and ferule ring nuts lock into the gear box, I can see that it is held in place with the locking tab so that it does not spin, but the assembly has come loose and its not clear to me how it is held within the gear box and doesnt pop back out.

Appreciate your guidance.

I think the crimps on the inside face could be what you mean (disregard the arrow).

I have seen at least two different versions, but in both cases it is a crimp fit as LAB stated. When I rebuilt mine I drilled and tapped the white metal section and put a dimple into the part with the threads. I used a set screw (grub) with a point on it to help keep everything in place. I had to do both ends ( end cap and cable drive side) because it was originally a BSA housing that I installed the proper gear set for my bike. Make sure you take it apart and clean it well to remove any swarf that was a result of the drilling and tapping.
