I have a few Questions and thanks in advance.

1. With the NYC reed breather. What is blanked off. I have one breather coming from the back of the timing case and one from the front of the engine cases, these join at a T junction then to the oil filler neck. Also why blank it off? Why not another T junction?
2. What size are the oil lines? There is nothing in the manual or spare parts books and I would like to replace some of the lines and have some spare.
3. I ordered new clutch plates from Colorado Norton Works. On removal of the old clutch plates, the clutch backing plates has two small holes with two very small rivets/pins. One of these was damaged so I ordered new rivets from Andover these arrived but are much larger so I have ordered a new backing plate from AN yes I know the postage is killing me. My question is which way do the rivets go? I think the rivets would go with the heads facing outward, sitting in their recesses with the pins to the clutch basket.

Hope the questions read ok and it's a 71 750
Thanks
Simon

3/8" I/D.

If there are "two pins" then they are 06-0756. Unfortunately, AN lists the wrong part (the 06.2485 rivet).

One of these was damaged so I ordered new rivets from Andover these arrived but are much larger so I have ordered a new backing plate from AN yes I know the postage is killing me.

Then all you needed was a new hardened 06-0756 pin.

The three 06.2485 rivets are for the later riveted-in 06.2483 backplate that you appear to have bought perhaps unnecessarily that has the two pin holes and three rivet holes as the early 'two-pin' backplate 06.0744 is no longer available.

My question is which way do the rivets go? I think the rivets would go with the heads facing outward, sitting in their recesses with the pins to the clutch basket.

The three rivets should be inserted from the rear of the basket with the heads in recesses, flush with the rear face (second pic. below) that your 'two-pin' clutch basket probably doesn't have (or the three holes?).
The recesses in the backplate are for peening the rivets as they need to be below the face of the plate.

Yes looked at Baxters.
This is what came out of the clutch. Any thoughts or ideas.

Hi LAB if I understand this correctly I can do away with the pins completely and re assemble the clutch without them.

I'm not sure that's a good idea as then there would be nothing preventing the backplate from rotating in the basket so one clutch plate interface (between the inner friction plate and backplate) would be lost and presumably why they eventually riveted the backplate to the basket.

Yes they’re solid pins.
The roll pins they just locate the backing plate to the clutch housing? They’re not welded or glued etc.

If I use the rivet method I’ll need a new clutch basket to take the rivets?

Yes they’re solid pins.

That would explain the wear if they're not hardened roll pins.

They’re not welded or glued etc.

The roll pins should be a press-fit so they shouldn't need glue or welding.

If I use the rivet method I’ll need a new clutch basket to take the rivets?

That's if you can find a riveted type basket without the backplate already riveted in place as AN no longer sells the basket without the backplate.

Thanks LAB, my bad I’ve ordered the roll pins from Baxters. And thanks for all your help.
