Duh dear dudes this was during Vietnam returned troops on VA benefits and SDA riots with smoke clouds and draft raffle brithdays lottery plus Jimny Hendrix, the Bee-et-tuls and Moody Blues and Pink Floyd ontop of hippy Woodstock culture and Timothy Leary and Baba Ram Dass in full bloom, so don't think current campus is as comfortably numb and painfluly confused as back then. I got to visit Gainsville a good bit with friends and got my SCUBA card in crystal clear cold Fla. Garden of Eden rainbow shimmering rivers. Fla. was best in the '50's 60's 70's but so many folks moved in till its as messed up as where they left. Most joke about not remembering the '60's, sheeettt thankgood I'm in constant flashbacks. Oh yeah my car was an Olds VistaCurser wagon.

I was bad depressed w/o much self esteem but that ole P!! and mushrooms and Window Pane, Orange Sunshine, Purple Haze killed off that miserable kid. Was one of the first to try-test what a decade or so later became known as Ectasy, but back then was extracted from Sassafrass root bark. BLATTT! >>>>

wow, a vista cruzer, i remember my dad pulling up in 1970 with a brand new one......many fond memories of road trips in that car. had that car til 1985.

I lost my virginity in my all white Vista Cruser on isolated Crandon Park beach extra freaked out as almost got stuck in sand with some explaining to do till letting a good bit of air out. Its V8 howled through the carb and handled like a sports car. Motorcycles were dangerous and sex was safe back then. I rode the P!! around Houston Texas a couple wild years till it needed clutch and stuff I couldn't afford or tools to deal with so had to put her away and then it got stolen. Oh I miss it so.

Refreshing number of young-ish owners testing their manhood on Commandos, was getting worried I was the only one. After the P!! Norton collapsed and nothing I tried was nearly as appealing so lost all touch with cycling world and thought only Nortons left were museum displays. Had no thoughts of another one till a Combat caught me by surprise in middle of complete life style change out big city to Ozarks in '99.

Naw I live in the woods so have an adventurous commute 20 miles into Hooterville/Kingston population 563, counting the dogs of course. We have our Daisy Mae's that melt guys eyes but all some that even the bears run from and no amount of 'shine makes appealing. But all the running around the steeps here does make em all rather muscular and tough as a free range chicken.

You're a busy man. Reminds me of when I retired at 55, I'm now 68. Having been an ironworker, I was programmed for a lot of physical activity. To take up the slack I restored a couple of bikes. A BMW R100S, forgot the year, for a friend and a 72 Combat roller for myself. I also purchased a 60s circa Bonneville (unit construction) basket case when I bought the Norton. I finally decided enough was enough and sold the Bonny back to the guy I bought it from. I think its pretty common for a guy to get into projects when he first retires. Its part of a transition. Currently, I do very little in the shop.. Occasionally, I inventory (more like look at) the tools and equipment I have and wonder what the hell I bought some of those things for. In fact, I have a paint booth (home made) and a supplied air respirator I've never used. Seemed like a necessity at the time, though. Someday I'm going to have a hell've garage sale. Probably more like my son will have the garage sale when I'm gone. He's not mechanically inclined, nor does he have the slightest interest in motorcycles. He's only fourteen and he may change when it comes to motorcycles.

Currently, my interests lie with motorhomes (Allegro Bus) and fishing boats (Lund Pro-V). On my bucket list is a 25 lbs. northern and a 10 lbs walleye.. I've caught a 9 lbs 8 oz walleye, so far. The 25 and 10 are for the wall in my den. Also, a camera safari to Africa.
