Hi Everyone,

On a thread yesterday a couple of members told us their age, and it got me thinking about doing a poll. What is the typical age of all of us Commando owners? How old we were when we first got our first Commando? What year was your first Commando? Feel free to flame me with a cited link if this poll has been done before:)

Cheers,
Gatsby

We have had an "age" poll, but it was some time ago and unfortunately the poll results have disappeared from the initial post but the thread still exists.

We will probably be doing a Commando yearly mileage poll shortly.

I'm 59, 60 next month. Bought my first Commando when I was 20 in 1973. It was a '72 750 combat roadster with 300 miles on the odometer.

I was 26 when I bought my first Commando, a 71, in 1972. Sold it in '80 and switched to Hondas. Rode them until '92 when I switched to Ducatis. Rode them until '06, selling my 996 when we got notified of a job relocation to Mexico - I figured it would not be a good "Mexico" bike. It occurred to me that an old Commando might be fun and certainly different so I bought my '73 850 Commando in '06 before we left New York, brought it here and it has been my only bike since then. My expectation was that I'd be the only Norton rider in Mexico but that went to blazes when we bought a house that turned out to be about 100 yards from the home of a former president of the INOA who has two of them!

I'll be 67 next month.

Dear Lord is this depressing. Im closer to 62 than Id like, got the first

Didnt ride it much sold it to do more college. Have 74 Roadster now, in
bits being slowly assembled. Always was a Trident man. Had a 73 then and
a 73 now.
Time sure passes......

Age 54

brought my new Norton in 76 age 17 it was one of the last kickstart 74 850 left in Brisbane, Mogan and Wakers had one black and gold Roadster and Mc Clouds had a white and blue model, could have brought the elecstart model but decided on the black and gold 74.

Still own this bike today but it sits in the Featherbed frame.

I bought my Mk3 when I was 23. It will have been with me thirty years next month. Not a moment's trouble, either (well, maybe once or twice...) I've had a ' 72 750 as well but never became attached to it in the same way as the 850. The first one has just been too great a part of my adult life to part with. I haven't used it much lately. I seem to do more pottering on the old side-valve. Speed cameras seem to have taken the fun out of anything that will go faster than 60 mph.

Age: 47
First Commando at age: 18
Year of first Commando: 1973 850 (#300558, is it still around?)

Age: 61

Bought my 850 new at W.I.W in Minneapolis in April of '74. They took it and a number of others and set them up as psuedo choppers. Hey, it was the 70's. 6 over, pullback bars, k&q seat/sissy bar....you get the picture. Rode it like that for two or three years before going back to "stock" with z-bars. Still have it and running 2-1-2 Dunstall exhaust with lower bars these days. It's seen a few INOA rallys in both roadster and Interstate guise. Being told by my daughter it will be the property of my 2 year old grandson one day.

54, my first Commando was a '74 Interstate that I paid 1400 dollars for in 1977. Sometime around 1981 I traded it off for a car because of a girl. I sure loved the girl, but I still miss that bike!

You mite be 24 and feel like a baby here, but for someone your age has a bit of class about yourself, not to many young ones do these days so your miles ahead.
