Rennie, I always though that movie was great. Actually the tank was flat because I built this motorcycle and needed someplace to put the fuel. All I had was a flat sheet of aluminum. So I cut it out of cardboard first and taped it together and trimmed it to fit. Then I laid it out on aluminum and cut around it. It was quick and easy. I am definitely not Even Wilcox when it comes to compound curves on aluminum.

I recall letting a friend ride the bike in a parade lap at Second Creek Raceway. He idled it out of the pits and as he came on to the track he rolled the throttle on. He wasn't ready for the hit and the bike stood straight up. He shut it off and the front end came down and he grabbed the front brake to keep from rear ending the pack in front of him and stood it on the front wheel. Luckily he regained control and then he pulled to the edge of the track till he quit shaking. I don't think it went over an idle the rest of the lap. Jim

HI Jim,

thanks for sharing all the pics. We've talked about a lot of the mods you made back in the day, but it's really nice to see detailed pictures. I always wondered exactly how you managed that center main bearing, and now I know.

Here's a picture of an old friend I bought new in 1979. She's been all over Europe 2 up (including behind the Iron Curtain when it existed) and has never in 31 years broken down with something that could not be sorted at the roadside. She now leads a more relaxed life and is pictured here next to the river Creuse in central France.

Trivia - this side of the river was in occupied France during the war whilst the opposite bank was in Vichy France.

Here is my first 850, I got it in December of 2008. (Sorry for the image size)

Here is my second 850, I got it a couple of weeks ago at Barber. I haven't started sorting it out yet, but it requires very little.....

I was on Row A, spaces 3 and 4. Row A is the first row coming in of course. I think the Vincent display was several rows down, spaces 1 and 2....?

Here's the JPN I've been working on for 3 months. It's finally back on its own feet again, and I'll try for the first start up tomorrow. The body work will be another month or so till it's finished.

Way out of my league. I had to use a spare bedroom, at least it had heat and A/C, if it was tight.

This is the project I'm working on now. I just got the starter back as you all have heard. It will soon be going back to it's rightful owner.

I just joined this board and would like to share this picture of the 66 Norton Atlas that my brother and I took turns riding. I rode it to high school almost everyday. It was a big bike to me back in 1967 when I was 18! I thought it was the fastest bike on the planet! The color is not right on the bike I dont think and my brother traded a speedboat for the bike even up back in 1967. This was the first bike I learned to ride on. All good things come to end and in 1969 I was drafted into the army and my bother soon followed and the 66 Norton Atlas was sold. I dont own a Norton yet, but plan on getting another Norton someday,( 1971 Norton Hi Ryder) I have a 67 442 that is keeping me from going after the dream at the moment.

All the bikes on here are just super!
