Hello everyone,
I've been really enjoying this forum for the past couple months. I keep meaning to post my Norton pics and introduce myself but just now getting to it. I've followed other forums and found the arrogance a bit much for me so I never registered with one before. Plus, I'm a loner and I do it my way. I was building Cafe bikes in Alabama when 8" over Forks by Frank (You've never been forked until you've been forked by frank was their motto.) 6 bend goof bars and King Queen seats was all the rage. I was a Norton, Triumph, Guzzi and Ducati dealer until 1981. In 1986 my son was born with Cystic Fibrosis and I parked my scooters. Up until then I put 15-20K miles a year on two wheels. I was such a cocky little ba&%%#*d that I left Denver headed on a 6 week around the west tour, loaded to the gills with less than a mile on a complete restoration of an e-start. I did the 500 mile service on the side of the road in Wyoming. No leaks and no breakdowns! Just flat tires.

This is what's left of that scooter:

I'm hoping to get the motivation to restore it again since it hasn't even been kicked over since the late 80's.

Here's a pic of a wreck that has 4000 miles on the clock that I have also.

Welcome to the forum.

I appreciate the fact that you are not a single-marque afficionado; I've always liked 'em all (well, ALMOST all).

Grandpaul,
Back in those days I had to make a living so after the '75 NVT fiasco, I even learned to accept the Harley boy's money! I think motorcycles are like my taste in women. As long and it has finesse, sexy lines, curves and a purpose, I'm all over it!! :P It's kinda like ole man Porshe said when people called his bathtub model ugly; "When they understand the function, they will see the beauty". That be me. When I was younger there was one more requirement...it had to make me pee all over myself when I pegged the throttle. (so to speak). My wonderful wife still does that to me!

Welcome along Olephart, Sounds like you'll fit in nicely.
You'll get plenty of motivation here, and help, weather you need it or not.
Now go straight out to the shed and do something.
AC.

Greetings and Welcome! I am a pretty new member also! By the way, are those the custom brass seat knobs under the Grey Tank? With the larger diameter they wiil work better and I think the idea of putting a lock on them is awesome!

What's with that filler cap next to the GB?

Do you mean the 850 Mk3 rear disc brake master cylinder reservoir cap?

No, those are going on my time travel machine. lol

Welcome, looks like you have two good canidates for next years "Most improved" thread. Is that grey & red paint job on the Roadster tank a stock job from way back or something you did?

That's my take on the white paint scheme from 75. I painted that in 1983. Paint on tank and side covers are still shiny and actually usable with a little tlc.

The colors are Graphite Gray (GM colors) with Corvette silver under candy red stripes, OEM logo and 3 coats of clear. Slow roasted for 24hrs and waxed with luv!

What kind of shocks are those on the purty bike?

Those are old S and W shocks. Antiques like you and I. Remember when I use to travel with everything but the kitchen sink? I had to have some heavier springs and those were wundermous. They actually worked. I think the company is now called Progressive Springs or something like that. I always intended to paint them but for that dang "round tuit" I keep losing! Have you got your carbs sorted yet? If all else fails send them down to me and I'll sort them for you.

I've moved on the front end, got tired of messing with those Amals, although after the last install, they seemed to work, but the scoot wasn't running by then, I had the timing cover off. If I get a chance, I'm going to pull apart the forks this weekend.
I'd like to ship the whole thing to you and let you do it.
I just want to ride.

I can do that, although if the fork tubes are still in good shape and you don't want to modify the hydralics, it's really simple to replace the seals, dust covers and fork oil. Besides, it's just so dang entertaining when you work on stuff.

I was just reminiscing about that Saturday I did the 500 mile service on that new T-3 Guzzi I sold you and that afternoon you crash modified it into a million little pieces! There wasn't even a piece left, large enough to strap to the trailer! And you walked away. Howd cha do dat? Remember the bandana that was in Babette's back pocket that was about 25 ft up in that pine tree?!? Gosh that was the late '70's...seems like yesterday.

Ah...the rocking chair stories we have brother....we could write a book of stupid sh#t...I mean, adventures.
