Wow, OK. I can't do metric conversion in my head, but a cigarette used to be 100mm.

I never was a smoker, so that doesn't help there, either...

Nice. You start it with those loafers? I tried mine with some crocks once, don't do that again. But then there's that Italian video that went around years ago with all the guys starting their Nort's with loafers on. Wish I were as young as you look. And your PM is taking care of you guys from what I read.

DogT , years ago, for some unknown reason I tried starting mine with my house slippers on ( worn out low cut sneakers ) had a very sore black and purple wound on back of my leg for quite a while , boots work great though plus no worries if it don’t fire first or second try .... I also remember that video , think hobot had it up , even some sandals were being worn ..... dare devils for sure

I've got that video, but it's in Italian, if you can understand it. I could when I was about 4, but I never kept up with it. I had a swollen ankle for a couple weeks after my Crocks try, I may have had some Jamesons in me. I had to try that after I saw the video of comnoz starting his bike with his hand. Actually mine starts pretty easy these days with the 20W50 synthetic. And once it warms up, it's just a push. I used to keep straight 50 in it. If it ever warms up here I may take it out, we are having the polar vortex at the moment. Undoubtedly from you Canadians, it's all your fault.

Anyhow, it's still a nice looking bike and I'm sure he'll enjoy it.

These a what I was actually wearing (jeans over them) - only thing wrong with them is the gear-change pad is on the wrong foot. Obviously made for MKIIIs!

OK, I take it back, but in the pic they sure look like loafers with black socks on. My mistake. Have fun, ride safe, be safe, enjoy while you can.

In the 80s I used to start my Commando in my official riding shoes all the time - Chuck Taylor hi tops. Mostly they were teal blue.

I know the engine's still a bit tight and has Total Seal rings but it's a bastard to get over TDC.
I'm thinking about trying the long RGM kicker off the 500 to see if it makes it more manageable.
Boots are good but I'm only 78kg (172lb for you northerners!)

My current efforts make Fast Eddie's process look professional (well... almost)

Rob just be a girl and use your finger to start it :D, the longer kicker does help but.

Well, it has been a long, long wait but it is finally here.
In a bit over a week I have put 300 miles on it (plus the 50 Matt did) so it's not too long before oil change and tappets etc.
I have to say that Matt's work and attention to detail is exceptional - makes me smile on the inside every time I ride it! The sound, the muted vibes and the torque - just glorious.
We're not in total lock-down yet but riding a a great way of self isolating.
BTW it is #134 on Matt's gallery

When I ride 'Pa, my trusty Norton, even after 45 years it still makes me smile! Inside and out!

Here is CNW 119. I had to go to Matt's picture gallery to check out the color on your 134 build. Then I called Matt to ask what color 134 was. It was the same color as my 119. Interesting story on this. I called Matt with a paint request, and told him I wanted to paint my bike the same color as a Ford F350 Super Duty pick up. Matt said, and I quote, " I will not paint a Norton the color of a Ford pick up". I convinced him he should. So I gave him the paint code for a 2014 Forest Green color used by Ford. It turned out that Matt loved it after seeing it. Your bike looks great, love the front brakes and forks, maybe I will have to get an upgrade. By the way, my shop builds the CNW Starter Conversion for Matt, so I hope you enjoy that part of the bike.

Thanks G81 - yes, I liked your colour so much, particularly on Interstate tinware (that I have always liked). so asked Matt to do mine in that colour.
Ride happy & safe!
