Hello all-

Long time lurker that finally decided to register and join. Anyways, here are a few pic of the bike-71 Roadster. All original, tank has been dry for about 15 years, never had ethanol gas in it, side panels are original fiberglass and never repaired. There is a LONG story to how I acquired the bike, but I won't bore you with the details. Here it is along with a few other bikes of mine..

Please, do "bore" us with the details! For boring, go to she-back-t16865.html And, while you're at it, bore us with some details about the little red rocket lurking in the garage.

Alright Nater, you asked for it....

First off, the GT6 was the at the guys house I bought the Trident from. I would look like a giraffe in that car as it fit Jr quite well...

Way back in 1996, I was but a wide eyed optimistic 16 years old lad. The world was a less cruel place that haden't kicked me square in the balls as many times. My dad worked with a guy that had a 69 Daytona in his basement that he was never going to do anything with so he kept asking him to buy it. He did and we collected it-it was roughly as together as the 79 Bonnie I have now, maybe a bit more but with less shine to it. So he has it assembled and rides that for a year or two and then sells it. He buys a 71 Norton Commando from a guy in Rochester NY that sells bikes and parts, maybe British Bike something or other, I can't recall. He has the Norton for a few years and then sold it when I was 19. I wasn't into bikes so I didn't think much about it.

Fast forward to 2005. I have now gotten back into cycling pretty heavily and ride with a group of local cyclists and join a team to compete in races. Life progresses as normal. One day before a group ride leaving out of a local park I start talking to a teammate named Joe. He starts to tell me how he has an MGA and a TR6.
"Yeah, my dad had a few Healy 3000's, MG's, and other unreliable British cars that if he still had now would be a well funded 401(k)." "He even had some British bikes too."

Joe tells me, "Yeah, I've got a Triumph Speed twin and a pair of Nortons."

"Yeah, my dad had a Daytona and he sold that to get a Commando about 8 years ago."

"I bought a Commando around that time too, that's funny."

"Did you buy it locally or did it come from out of state?"

"No, I got it in Boston, NY."

"Muther fucker, that's my dads old bike!!!!!"

So I worked on him for about 3 years and in spring of 2014 my incessant pestering finally got to him and it FINALLY came home with me! The plan is to get it looking really good and surprise him with it for his 65th, but, the more I have it in my garage, the less likely that is to happen.
