You see grooved skirt Triumph 650 pistons on eBay regularly so nothing new.
JRB one reason the 961 has a stepped pin crankshaft (one up, one mid stroke) might be due to the designers having a similar chat around the table regarding ability to raise revolutions with long term reliability.
No doubt someone dropped their pipe or choked on their Cocoa when the imminent Ducati sound was mentioned.
