Lady and Gentlemen, be careful what you wish for. I live in a small secluded town that was once excited that Home Depot was coming to town. As I recall one of my neighbors kept going on about how much cheaper kitchen cabinets would be. I asked him how many times in his life he planned to replace his cabinets. Well, we have Home Depot now, and many of the smaller stores we used to enjoy are gone. Some of them made fine cabinets too.

So, go ahead and blast me about the quality of parts from AN and the high cost. I have seen plenty of threads on this topic, but I am also really glad that I can buy parts for my 40-year old bike. How many headlamp brackets are you going to buy in your lifetime? Just my thoughts on it. I suspect we all have some pattern parts on our bikes whether we know it or not. I have some that are deliberate. However, I also have this theory that we need to support the lifestyle we enjoy. Spend your money wisely.

+1 on that philosophical viewpoint Russ.

Russ your are correct we do need parts producers like AN to continue sourcing and supplying parts

But you also have to ask yourself why has EMGO stepped up and invested in new tooling for Fuel tanks / headlamp brackets

Simple answer Demand from their distributor / dealer network

AN no longer support motorcycle dealers just look at the number of official AN dealers in the UK ( 1 )

In days gone by AN were a wholesale supplier parts were distributed through a network Motorcycle dealers
the current regime have opted to go down the Retail only path and UK dealers will only buy parts from AN as a last resort
as the AN dealer discount structure sucks , hence the friction between AN and Norvill / RGM who are now making their own parts
and competing directly with AN ( and offering realistic trade terms to dealers )

Your Home depot example is good example of how small business can disappear when the big boys arrive on the scene
but the reality is AN have their heads buried in the sand when it comes to parts distribution by cutting off the dealer network and opting for higher margin retail sales
They have now left the door well and truly open for the competition to gather pace

EMGO are now producing Norton parts as demand from dealers / distributors fuels development

Emgo also have a global distributor network who all have their own established dealer network and all concerned can make a margin selling Emgo parts

So lets just say if AN do disappear at some point in the future they will be masters of their own demise
