What could possibly go wrong?

Hot off the press

This should be interesting :? :? :? The word "controversy " comes to mind

I seem to remember that Les was the spares officer for the NOC before going into business himself......amongst a lot of controversy.

Says Barry Owen, who just happens to be very matey with Emery and has been for some time. I wonder how the NOC are to ask ALL the members their opinion? AGM's usually get approx. 2.5% of the membership. This proposal reeks of looking after your mates. Glad I left the so called 'club' when I did.

P.S Of course anybody taking over from laughing boy Les would only be able to do so after completing an extensive public relations course in learning how to tell people to, 'fuck off'. Hang on a sec....does this qualify for a late April fools?

Not a bad return for nicking the spares scheme off the club all those years ago.

"...several months of negations..."

I laughed when I saw that typo and then realized that maybe it wasn't one!

Hadn't spotted that - was too busy rolling around on the floor. Freudian slip or what?!

I suspect a lot of money could be made by selling tickets to watch the negotiations and negations. Not that I want to see stress created in a peaceful world but I suspect that there are other manufacturers and suppliers of "genuine" parts that will have some comments on this. How do we get ringside seats?

I want to see what the value of the goodwill he has on the books, should be negative but I have a fair idea it will be as big as his ego :D

Hi

Johns right. Coaches & trains.

Biggest problem is of course how to price all those " UK made spares"

Chris

Unlike other marques there is very little reason for a club to maintain parts as they are readily available.

Sounds like no one else will buy that business (and all it's goodwill) and this is a desperation play.

Just after I took Andover Norton on a supplier told me Emery wanted to sell. That is now seven years ago.

A couple of years later I was directly approached, plus an agency was employed to sell "Norvil Motorcycles" on. Without success.

I was also approached around the same time by a third party with an interest in things Norton and asked to "consolidate the Norton spares business" by buying out Emery. I asked that party how taking over one of the many spares retailers worldwide was going to make any difference to Andover Norton's position.

Now the NOC has the chance of Emery's lifetime....

We would wonder what "the agreement of members" actually means ?

Is that 51% of members, or 100% of members.

Wow  "Mr Congeniality" ... aka "Les Emery" wishes to sell ??? Mmm ... having bought Les Emery "Norvil" parts years ago, I would never, ever, buy anything from him, or his "minions"; again. Non-fitting, cheaply made rubbish is what I received from him. :x When I wrote him how the parts didn't fit, and were covered with rust ... well he told me ... I don't wish to repeat.

Andover Norton, Mike Hemmings, and Old Britts is all I will ever buy. :D

Even though I'm in the USA, and a member of INOA, I had thought about joining the UK Norton Owners Club. After reading this "News flash" ... I want no part of the UK Norton Owners Club.

I bought the 'bottom end kit', pistons and a few bits from Les, he did give me grief about the C3 bearings but did deliver, other than that I can't say much. The stuff I got was good, but I remember the upside down letters on the gearbox outer cover one time. I guess I've been lucky, time to quit.

I brought a rear vernier isolastic rear rubber mounting from Mr Emery a number of years ago, he had a stand at the motorcycle show at the NEC.

The guy was not very nice to deal with, was rather rude to be honest, it was quite a few years ago, and I was not experienced enough to recognise just what a useless piece of junk I had brought, could not be used, threads were so poor, unusable!!.

I still have the part, just to remind me of what rubbish is out there, suffice to say I never brought anything else from Mr Emery!.

Now Mick Hemmings, worlds apart, so knowledgeable, his wife, Angela, is so charming, a pleasure to deal with.

He's referring to the AGM. What the 'executive' committee insist is a democratic process. It'll be 51% of the members who can afford the time and money to attend - which is usually about 2.5% of total membership. If you can't get there you can't vote.

It'd be a shame if we never got to deal with Roland ever again, I'll get over it, I'm sure!

tell the stupid b's to leave it to the professionals. the club cant afford to pay someone to look after the parts. what a dumb idea.
