The Club has decided to end this conversation here. The matter was discussed at the AGM and the meeting voted for the EC to pursue exploratory talks with Norvil.

Almost unbelievable. I can see it now, "NOC - The Movie! The incredulous but true story of how a cracked team of motorcycle enthusiasts turned a failing dodgy parts business into a fat blokes pension".

If only it wasn't potentially true!

Travesty, I cant believe the EC are going ahead with this, I've also been a member & organiser of events for over 30 years, maybe not much longer

Cant believe Grimmet got re elected considering his self appointed censor role as webmaster

On a brighter note Mrs R and I were out RIDING our bikes yesterday!

Nice line up, mud on Mikes Yellow Commando after some over zealous riding, he got off with it!

I only want to be a club member - not a shareholder. It seems that the EC and those that voted are very short sighted as to where the liabilities will fall. I for one will certainly not be renewing my memberships whilst this is ongoing, I will be sending my membership card back soonest, in this modern day and age the club offers little of benefit to the members anyway, Carole Nash insurance is the same price with the discount, and spares and knowledge are plentiful these days without the need to belong to the club.
Due to my employment, I have to belong to a 'club' which charges a monthly fee. A theft by the treasurer whom we had no say in appointing, all members and past members for the past seven years were liable for the debt. Thankfully the UK MOD paid up. It is a situation I wish to avoid in future. Before any talks, the position of the EC and club members should be fully understood - I doubt if this was mentioned at the AGM, It should have done as there may have been a different outcome. Also, there can be no favouritism in the talks, what is said to the NOC must be the same said to any other interested party - I doubt if this will be the case.
Personally, AN will have little to worry about as those that know where to buy parts that fit will continue to do so, as for the price, in the grand cost of Norton ownership the prices AN charge are in my opinion reasonable. You can't even get a piece of plastic for a modern machine for sensible money and without one hell of a wait.
As for entering into discussion with Joe about the talks - for what reason? I don't think he will anymore concerned about the NOC owning some dodgy parts that someone else owned 12 months earlier!

When two members, both with some considerable experience of business management, stood up at the AGM and effectively warned the attendees off, I could not believe the sheep like vote to enable the EC to start talks with Norvil. It beggars belief. The gutsiest move of the day was the former treasurer's bid to remove the current webmaster from post. That failed by about 48 to 56 votes. It seems the membership has a short memory when it comes to Mr Emery's dubious past association with the NOC. The club is swimming in money. Members money.

anybody interested in forming an alternative Norton rider/enthusiast group in UK? PM me so I can gauge the interest.

I did warn of the un-democratic nature of the AGM voting method but Barry Owen, amongst others, was reluctant to change and you can see why. It's easier to influence 56 people rather than 2,000 which would be approx. the minimum number required to pass any proposals with all members voting.

And starring: Eric Cartman as 'fat bloke'. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08RsHXAo_W8 . Possibilities for members of the EC include: Laurel and Hardy, Grumpy (Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs), Dick van Dyke (Bert from 'Mary Poppins'), Rupert Murdoch and Steptoe & Son.

. A motorcycle clubs criteria should be;

1) enjoy riding motorcycles.
2) enjoy motorcycle rallies.
3) making sure top quality beer is available to enjoy at motorcycle rallies.

Amen! Couldn't have put it better myself!

Just posted in news and views on the NOC website. I have cancelled my membership and DD. I bet the post gets censored and / or locked.

Perfectly innocent question....what has the webmaster done/not done that makes him a target for removal?

I wish I had a Commando so I could join in :D :D :D :D

Seriously though if every club disbanded when there was an argument there would be no clubs.

As an outsider with no ax to grind surely the members control the club not a few in self appointed,
I am sorry if there were elected, officials, but if they were elected schedule an extrordinary agm and vote them out.

Leaving my views about the company concerned it is also puzzling, as had been said on here, the said company
has been hawked around any prospective buyers with no takers, and then club members who are "in the know"
strongly advise against it.

The club should make up its mind as to whether it is a members club for basically fun or a business. The two
are very rarely good bed fellows.

You haven't noticed his enthusiastic removal of posts critical of the EC, Garner or anything he finds objectionable then? Any member can choose to stand for election of any of the EC positions, you don't have to wait for anyone to stand down. All you need is 50 mates to turn up at an AGM and you should be in. If 10 members got together and each of them brought 10 friends with them, then the block vote of 100 for each candidate would easily bring about a majority change within the EC. However, best thing to do in my opinion is not to join in any of their games and simply leave.
