Greetings,

A friend with a Mk III Roadster wrote me for suggestions on how to remove a stuck rear axle...

"The rear axle is giving me problems. I tried to remove the axle from the right side and all it did was start unthreading from the speedo drive side on the left and spreading the swingarm but not coming out. I think the axle is rust welded to the wheel. Ever heard of a fix to this one?"

My recommendation was blunt force trauma  , but offered to pose the question here for a more dignified aproach. Any suggestions appreciated.

Do you know if he has slackened off the brake caliper carrier plate (by loosening the lower R/H shock nut)?

If he hasn't, then there is a possibility that the carrier plate could be binding against the axle?

Does he have a copy of the factory manual?

If not?: http://britmoto.com/manuals/Manuals/850_man.pdf
