What happens is the right header pipe when tightening it tends to kick it out when torquing the rose nut. My fix was to zip tie the pipe under the foot rest and give a good tighten to the rose nut. Remove tie before starting. Did I really have to say that?
I used my emgo kickstart lever three times, the third time it twisted out of shape and hit one of my brand new mufflers. Put the original one back on with rust/road rash and all, at least it doesn't hit the muffler.
Emgo kick starters are junk. Mine stripped out after 10 kicks. I went with a RGM folding kick start. The splines on the RGM hug the kick start shaft really tight. The Emgo design is much like the original and has problems, just like the original. Emgo produces a lot of good stuff, but kick starters are not one of them.

I've had lots of problems with stock Norton kickstart levers tapping the muffler on the way down. Consider the three mounting plates on each muffler. Disregard the diamond shaped plate that bolts directly to the muffler. The largest plate bolts to the back of the Z plate. On the outside there is a small plate that holds on the passenger peg. If you acquire another of these passenger peg plates, you can put it inboard of the Z plate, stacking it with the large plate and pushing the muffler and pipe inward by 1/8" . It is hardly noticeable and has worked several times for me.
My simple fix: make a plate out of alloy with dished center.
The inside nuts on the rubber mounts don't have too much clearance with the swing arm so be careful about moving that inside plate further inside with washers.
