Andover Norton Parts Drawings - Andover Norton Factory Parts - Commando Parts

You will need everything in the AN photo except the points plate, the centrifugal advance mechanism, and the contact breaker fixing bolt (labeled 5). In addition I have needed to add a shim to the contact breaker drive shaft on the timing chest side. The free play would allow the EI rotor to strike the stator. A thin washer did the trick. Check before you re-install the timing cover. Thanks, forest from the trees at times after a long day.
If I am fitting a Pazon, do I still need the pictured points etc? (Parts shown in his link as ‘electronic ignition‘ - goes to Pazon- and the non-listed but pictured part underneath it. Bike came with nothing.
...I am fitting a Pazon,...
Have an 1/8" thick thrust washer for the contact breaker shaft in between head of breaker shaft bolt and the shaft seal.
From your photo it appears that the sprocket is pushed past the hole in the shaft. You need pull the sprocket out until the holes align.
I purchased the parts as laid out in Andovers website. I will try the washer on the sprocket. Again I bought this as my first Norton and first basket case. Figured ‘how hard can this be?’ 4 years later!I'm seeing what Pdr206 describes, the sprocket not in far enough or the shaft not out enough.
Checking part numbers there appear to be three different distributor/points housings for Atlas, P11 and Commando. The thrust washer, however, is only listed for the Commando so perhaps the housing isn't an original Commando part. the Commando housing has two needle roller bearings whereas the other two have one needle roller and a plain bush.
Also, logically, I would have thought a "thrust washer" should have gone between the sprocket and the housing similar to the twin chain intermediate gear thrust washer, not under the head of the shaft but I could be wrong about that.
I will try the washer on the sprocket.

I measured the thrust washer (which fits against the oil seal) and all three of the ones I have measure 0.060 inch. If yours is 1/8 inch (0.125) this could be the problem.
