Why studs and not bolts for footrests?

Yes, but your bike is magic, and the laws of chemistry and physics don't apply!

I assume you are talking about Allen cap screws or socket head screws because why would you use Allen head bolts and where would you get them?

Also, Allen cap screws come in various materials, not just stainless steel.

Finally, I have no trouble using stainless steel Allen cap screws in alloy either - I use anti-seize and in the old days, grease.
We a speak a different language, here in Aus we call them allen head bolt/screws and yes they come in all sorts of material I use them everywhere on my Norton from timing/gearbox cover, foot peg mounts to the Joe Hunt mounting bolts, to head stay mounting , in my workshop I have a full set of allen head bolts from metric to imperial, the timing/gearbox cover screws were the first to be replace way back in 1977, the original slot screws was just not right and the heads easily damaged.
The timing/GB cover allen head screws have been there since 1977 and cost me nothing to buy as they come under $2 and the supplier didn't charge me for them, how many suppliers do that these days.

From your picture, your screws are not stainless steel. So, contradicting what I said made no sense. I said nothing about Allen screws by any name - I spoke only of stainless steel.

Allen is/was a manufacturer of hexagonal keys and socket headed screws/bolts, hence the term allen screw. A bit like calling a vacuum cleaner a 'Hoover'
They are cap screws or bolts, 'socket headed' screw/bolt will do as well.
This gets round to what screws and bolts are called on either side of the pond. A set screw in the UK is a hexagon headed screw with the thread going all the way to the head. What the USA calls a set screw is a grub screw in the UK. It actually looks like a grub, No head and they usually have a hexagon socket and are used for fixing hubs to shafts etc.

He contradicted my post #17 with his post #18 which I disputed with my #19. I made no reference to "Allen" in #17!

I never said anything about my screws/bolts were SS.

No you didn't. The discussion at that point was about ARP and stainless steel fasteners. Your post #18 was made soon after my post #17 about stainless which was a reply. So, if you were not trying to contradict what I said, then I apologize.
