Exciting to watch your process and sleekness. They make LED tag bolts that double as signals and brake too. I like the tag on a stalk and may have to steal your idea for Peel.

After a rough cut the front fender now looks like this:

Which is basicaly what I wanted, kind of a sixties GP bike fender.

Jean

My back fender, basicaly finished in the back, the front adjuster will need to be rethought due to clearance issues. The fender moves front and back with the wheel to adjust the chain and it follows the swing arm so the clearance is more than enough.

This is a picture with the suspension fully compressed, plenty of room to move and not touch anything.

Now I have to get going on sanding everything. I have to make a chain guard and chain adjusters.

Jean

All I can say is... WOW ...check you out!! I haven't seen your thread in a while. Beautiful work ! Cj

Thats looking really good, I would love to cut the rear loop off mine and put a hugger on like that, all the numbers match and I dont want to hack it up too much though, might just have to find another one to play with

holy foie gras!
the maestro has done it again. I am beginning to see it all now, nice, nice, n-i-c-e!
I have a feeling this one will be making noise before I get my head back on, hehe
nice work Jean. cheers, Don

Mine is a numbers matching bike, and it is a JPN to boot, unfortunately no one was willing to buy it for what it was so for me it was cheaper than to get another bike and do what I did. I have no remorse, the value of the other JPNs went up because that is one less on the road and it is one fewer rolling cigarette ad.

It doesn't look like it will be nice out for a while so I sould have some more tme to work on it rather than train my cycling legs

Jean

Now that is an attitude I haven't heard voiced in such a manner before!

It's going to be one heck of a bike, to go with it's sibling.

Inspired by Ludwig, these are my rear wheel adjusters.

I did a few more things today, but lacked time to finish them in time to take pictures.

Jean

That's okay we all really appreciate the photo's that you do post. intresting chain adjusters though. I meant to ask you about your handle bar controls earlier in the thread. What make are they and where did you pick them up/and about how much? I'm in the market for a new set for my MK3 and was thinking of going with used japanese off of e-bay, but your look choice/tidy. I got the controls and the tail light from e-bay, take a look at the vendor's store at http://stores.ebay.com/OZG-Powersports They have the same stuff on auction and on buy-it-now, usually the auction goes for half the buy-it-now price, but you must be saavy and patient in your bids. The controls are about $12 to $15. The left hand one is as it came from e-bay, the right hand only has the control, there is no throttle "drum" and no cable ferrule, ortunately I had some leftover parts and cobbled up a correctly working unit.

What's better then, a single picture or 20 pictures of a taillight

A simple chain guard...

And my rear brake torque arm.

The back end is pretty much done (except for paint, plating and polish) so now I have to get the front end finished, and find a place to hide the battery and other electrical components.

I would have gone to the fully floating rear brake link...

Technically, that would have been better, but the brake backing plate would need to be modified, then there is the problem of finding room for an attachment point complicated by my muffler brackets, add to that the fact that the rear brake for me is used very sparingly, then you understand my choice of a swing arm mounted attachment point.

What would that have looked like?

Anchor the torque arm to the frame so that the link remains parallel to the swingarm as it pivots.

Brake voodoo.

It doesn't have to be parallel just as long as the torque from the brake is fed into the frame rather than the swing arm. Doing that prevents the torque from the backing plate loading the suspension allowing better better wheel control. All this is good on an all out racer, on a café racer, it would only make it more espresso rather than latté

Enjoying the increasing additions and minimalist chain shade'r. I'll bet another .56 oz could be drilled out it. When ya going to remove that pair of weld sticks off the swing arm?

Can't take those out, they hold the rear fender in place, as far as holes, I am not a holy man
