rebuilt and installed the front brake caliper on my 73 today. all new seals, pistons, pads, etc. When i put it back on the bike and bled the system, it appears the inner pad is rubbing against the rotor. When i push the bike around i can hear it rubbing, with my eye i can see a space between the pad and rotor on the outside while the brake is released, but the inside looks to be sitting right against the rotor. Is it possible i pushed the inside piston in too far and might be blocking one of the fluid holes?

Did you thoroughly remove all corrosion in the bore? In the seal groove? On the piston? Lubed them so they didn't roll upon entry?

yeah everything was actually really clean in there, only thing i had a problem with was the threads for the bleed nipple. Pistons were new stainless, and i didn't see or feel any sharp edges or anything on them. i pushed the inside piston in, then did the outside till i could see the fluid holes, when i compared the two after that it seemed the inside one was just a bit deeper, so thought maybe i could be at least semi blocking the holes.

Can't be much wrong if brake grips good then releases enough not to drag or over heat rotor. The pucks should self center on first good lever pressure application. its the O- ring spring back that retracts pads pressure off rotor but pads are still free to tip and lean over against rotor and its a general feature of all disc brakes that don't glue or clip the pads to the puck, ie: some insignificant touching drag most bounced clear with spun air cushion most the time. My SV650 is floating pad type like Norton and a bugger to get pad to stay put to assemble so I used disc pad organe-red glue to hold them on for a simple non fumble job and maybe more silent. Summary they all do that no worries mate'.
