Just had this happen when bleeding the front brake on Suzi. Can,t remember where i got this particular switch, its marked up Lucas but with a smaller body, same length as the old, rusty one, but the 'peening over' edge looks very thin. It failed even before i had all the air out, brake fluid all over, what a mess.

Wow, perhaps damaged prior to failure in some way? My bike came to me with a failed, non fucrional switch. Sourced a new one from a local Classic Mini/Brit car repair shop. Same part number as AN's offering.

Lucky it happened when it did though, and not out on the road.

Your not kidding! I will be pressure testing any new ones i buy before i fit them. I've got a spare master cylinder that i can set up as a test rig. Just another job to do that really shouldn't have been necessary.
It doesn't look that old. Maybe it's worth reporting the issue back to Lucas? (whoever they are now)
