Braided rocker feed line

Was contemplating making a braided rocker feed line, anyone any idea of internal diameter of the hose to use to give sufficient oil flow to the rockers?

Make sure it is a very tight fit on the banjos, I had one come off once.

I have made brake lines before and have a good number of unnused lengths and banjo's so I thought of using them up by making the oil line.
Hi Cookie, I did look originally on the site and apart from the article about making the lines there are some excellent articles throughout the site, it does give
-3 sizes in the article about making brake and oil lines, I just wanted to make sure as the article was in the brakes section and wondered if that size of line would give the required flow.

I'm considering making some up too. I bought a new set of stock ones from Rabers, but I think I have a leak.
 
I understand that some of the fittings can foul the side of the head and leak. Many of the pre-made ones have long banjos to avoid this.

This is just what I have been told as I have never attempted to make any braided rocker feeds.
 
Good idea to make your own. You can make sure they line up nicely.I was going to have a set made by the same guy who made me oil pressure Gage line but I got lazy and ordered a pre made set, the quality is good but the banjos don't line up in plane to there respective places as well as I would like to avoid any twisting pressure on them & make instalation easier. And yes mine do almost touch the head because they are bent in to much.
 
I purchased a Norm White set of stainless braided rocker lines from a parts dealer on line. Sorry forget who at the moment :oops:
They fit well. The banjos at the head are cocked like 20 degrees to move the line off the
head hence no rubbing on my end.
That's how they come pre assembled.
Hope this helped. Using off set banjos should prevent line to head contact.

I may need a new rocker feed line too. Looks like if you buy all the stainless parts from OB, you can put it together for about $80, less than half the price of buying it, and they use compression fittings, so no clamps.

Why do they route it behind the headsteady? The original plastic line went in front of the headsteady, at least mind did.

edit: oops make that $160, so it is almost worth it just to buy it pre-made.

I don't think I'd want to try and fit the crossover pipe behind the headsteady? The crossover pipe on the OldBritts website looks as if it's rather too long? Also, I have the banjos fitted with their curved ends inwards, as I think it tucks in neater that way, although as a result, there's not much clearance between the nuts on the fittings and the head.

It would be nice if they supplied washers that fitted properly, instead of the 3/8 washers for the 5/16 end
 
I just tried polishing my old plastic line, at least the banjos, and in the process, I ground off some of the plastic line, so now I need to find some of the plastic line. Any idea where to find it? I'm not sure I want to buy used stuff from OB, seems like the original plastic line should be available somewhere, and then how does one install it? With heat? Or is there another option using the original banjos and banjo bolts since I have now polished and plated them.

You want truck air brake line. I have a diesel mechanic friend who saves me lengths long enough to make oil lines when he does a semi truck brake line. Should be available in bulk from your local truck parts dealer. (or find a friendly diesel mechanic)

Warm the end of the hose with a good heat gun and slip over the barb on the banjo. Easy!
