Road bike, otherwise I would just go for Steve Maneys set up which probably doesnt have much of an advance curve,
as you say not so much needed

Find the LAP by going to TMS and picking the UK made alternator, they were stopped by Lucas/ Wassells from marking their alternators as Lucas. They are made on the original tooling and LAP is run by ex Lucas employees unlike the green boxed Wassells of Chinese manufacture.
 
And the Tiger Cub rotor part number is 54212284 which is the thinnest one available that fits a Commando crank.
