Easter's coming so time to wheel out the 961. New battery fitted, spun over then petrol added and started no problem. Up on the blocks and checked over ok, apart from a sticking rear brake light switch so MoT booked and all systems go for the weekend. Here's hoping the sun keeps shining.

Typical, MoT no problem and now the rain has set in! Still, good forecast for the weekend.
Good stuff Al, have a ball at the weekend! Your task, should you wish to accept it, is to post some pics infront of something iconic. I miss home occasionally and most certainly the local pubs. Norton outside of an iconic local British pub - yes please. Feel free to squeeze a red telephone box in as well if you like, and ‘av an half’ for me whilst you’re in there :D 👍!

Well that's it then, off to the Cleveland Inn it is. Watch this space!

Stephen you need a run out to the Fox and Hounds at Tamborine, south of Brisbane. The have a red phone box and a Tardis out the front.

A glorious day yesterday so off I went, bike starting and running well. Oops, spoke too soon, wouldn't start after stopping for a pint and pickled egg and had to be trailered home. Suspect the tip switch!

Good tip Skiddy,

Definitely gonna have a look at that place when I’m next south of Brizzy! Looks the business:D 👍

Geez Al, that wasn’t the outcome we were looking for! I was hoping for a nostalgic pic of that sweet looking Norton outside the Cleveland Inn - half a pint, a ploughman's and you with a big cheesy grin - pub in the background!

That sux. Hope you can get it fixed up quickly.

Buy the facory OEM Triumph tip over switch , the part number is on the alternate parts list. I am making the assumption the Norton "Flat Pack" is not what you need . If you need the flat pack you must get it from Norton or find a source ? I just remembered that Norton no longer use this flat pack on the new TVS bikes so obtaining this may be an issue ? I would contact Norton or Stu Bodycote asap .

New "fall detection" sw. fitted, genuine Triumph part, made in Japan! No luck with starting though so will have to wait for the Honda relays to arrive and continue the process of elimination.

Can you tell us again where or what you have done so far ? Please let us know if the bike cranks but won't start etc.. and what year bike you have so we can find the correct electrical drawing . I have 5 drawings available now , Euro 3 old OMEX , Euro 3 pre Dec 2013 SCS , Euro 3 post Dec 2013 SCS (my bike) , Euro 3 NEW OMEX (Mk2 2016) , and Euro 4 NEW OMEX with ABS (Post 2017) . Do you live near Stu Bodycote ?

Hi Tony, it's a 2018 build and everything's working as far as I can ascertain but no spark. I was thinking, all the relays couldn't have failed at the same time so I swapped them over, 1 for 2, 3 for 4 but same situation. Honda relays are delayed so I pick up a Bosch cam position sensor this morning, not fully sure of the Febi Bilstein unit I replaced the original with when it broke. Everything else checks out, to my abilities at least. Watch this space!
Ps. Stu's a good distance from me, by our standards.
PPS. I've looked over the euro4 wiring diag from "resources", that's what's made me suspect the cam sensor.

Cam position sensor it was after all. Bosch unit now fitted so 3rd time lucky? Relays on the way and raining now so might as well wait for them to come, swap them out and all should be fine. Might be all in my mind but it feels smoother already.

Yes Bosch is one of the best recommended replacements .

Hi Al , I would say based on owners comments that 2018 may have been one of the best years made.

Mine was 2018 and I’d agree with that to a large extent. Mine didn’t seem to have any of the electrical gremlins that many suffer. Even the voltage loss when parked was less than other recent moderns I’ve had (the worst being a Hinckley product).

The primary issue with mine (pun intended) was the racket from the primary drive which, to my mind at least, was a forewarning of impending mechanical failure.

Ah, the sweet sound of mechanical equipment sounding mechanical. Blame my Dad for introducing me to ships engines from an early age, "Stand back son, don't want you mesmerised and falling in!".

Oh I’ve nowt against the sound of a well oiled machine… music t’ me ears in fact…

But I‘m not so keen on the sound of pieces of metal intent on destroying each other !

I had resigned myself to the fact this was ‘normal’ on a 961, until recently, and videos posted by Stu of bikes he’s set up properly… that sound NOTHING like my brand new one did, that was checked 3 times by the factory !!

Honda relays finally received, genuine Honda parts. Packet says made in Japan but the relays say China, look better than std. Omron. Starts, runs and idles ok though so off for a blast!
