Well, seems that my 1 dead cylinder was multiple issues. Some self inflicted.
The previous owners eh modifications to the coils seemed to be the root of the problem. A bad coil was the most likely issue.
He had put automotive coils on fabricated brackets. It worked but was not pretty. I pretty much fubared one of the carb needles checking things out.
I also found loose from vibration points nuts. I had the shop install the correct coils and brackets and now I can use the Roadster tank that I got over the winter.
Its coming along. Learning the electrical system is something I am working on. The bike looks so much better with the proper coils.
