Ever since kart racing days, I've been partial to fine wire spark plugs because of their ability to resist fouling. Needing some new plugs for my stock '71 Roadster, I went looking for some NGK BPR7EIX which were mentioned on this board. I couldn't find them, but I did find and pick up some Autolite XP63's, which cross-references to the BPR7EIX. Then I discovered Autolite lists an XS62 specifically for CDO's. I called Autolite to find out the difference, and was told the the only difference is that the XP63's are a little hotter and "might be too hot". Has anybody here had experience with either of these Autolites? Is there enough difference in heat range between these two to worry about? I don't have any current fouling problems and don't expect to be flailing the bike - just looking to be bulletproof.

These are a couple good plug threads. I think Autolite's conversion charts might be a little vague. I ran a set of AP64's that were way too hot. The AP63's are a cooler plug but they didn't look that much different. I'd want to bracket it with a 62 and see. If you're into karting then you know about reading plugs, but there are a couple good links.

NGK # IGR7A-G Lazer Iridium is NGK's iridium wire/platinum pad plug in the 7 heat range. NGK #3106
