I've been looking thru some of the older threads on oil tank mountings and cracking problems. I have no troubles now, doing a preemptive strike. Most of what I read says use stouter mounts and pad the side and bottom of tank. Question is, if the mounts are taller than the originals do you just bend the tabs on the tank to accomodate? Original mounts are 5/8 inch tall, and the ones I want to use are 1 inch tall.
Thanks

Standard practice is to shear off the bottom mounting stud and weld a plate to seal any micro cracks. Then just use a foam rubber pad to take up the space.

I personally wouldnt bend the tabs on the tank. I just had mine redone but one of the tabs was busted at the tank side when i sent it in!

I am sure messing with the tab will end up eventually in the thing popping off...
