I have using Harley oil tank mounts for my Commando restorations for years and they are superior to the Norton ones currently supplied . The number from Harley dealers is # 62563-65 and they were used on HD from 71-84 to mount the oil bucket. The price is less than $5 each. I always install the back one first, then install the front one to the frame and then slide the front bracket of the tank onto the mount. You will never have to change the rubber mounts again. Yes, that is what i've used on muffler mounts too, usually after grinding a neck-waist in them as otherwise a bit stiffer than Lords. My oil tank for some reason would not fit two of them so used one at front and made my own rubber washer cushioned rear one. Tank sits on ring of moderately crushed rubber. There are a number of cross over items in HD catalogs, in many ways the closest breed remaining to our old rides.
