Hi

Just a guess, might be Drew Robinson. He raced in europe on a Commando. He gave me a lot of advice in the early 90s when basket case engine. I last saw him at Donnington where he was spectating at a CRMCC meeting with his Dad. We had quite a chat & he told me he was making Titanium conrods for his Commando.

I think he used to make them in conjunction with a Scottish racer who built & raced Seeley Commandos. He sadly died when moving machinery on his own, into his new unit over a weekend.

Hi Marinatlas

Thats the man. Charlie built some lovely stuff.

i got an alloy barell from him wich was used and worked ok
there have been rumours that they would not seal at the bottom joint (barell to cases ) but i never had a problem with them
i also heard (and one hears a lot of lies that way ) that exact used to work with Maney and that they fell out with each other
the cooling fins are much more sbstantional at the back on my barell than on maneys or andovers

numbers on mine are different (33043 -bore size ? )at the side but there was also a number stamped at the front (A2876 )

looking at the casting marks where the cooling fins 'meet' at the side i am 99,99% sure it is an Exact barrell as Chris thought (and marinatlas)
USE IT

i believe he ( Exact ) also made seeley frames , am i correct or is this another rumour ?
?sorry just saw Chris mentioning this earlier , guess the wife is correct saying that i should listen before speaking ....

It was Charlie Pirie who had the unfortunate accident, good friend of mine, he was going to have another crack at Daytona the following year, we lost our only Scottish dealer and a nice guy! I can't remember him getting alloy barrels made though, although I might be wrong
