The center stand on my 71 is in sad shape. If I get a new repro or OE stand does anyone know if it will clear the Dunstall silencers that I have?
The kick out that wraps around the pipes has long broken off my original one and I want to make sure that it will clear the pipes on the left side.
Please see photos.
Any thoughts?

tell us what else is wrong with your original. You can repair it. I strengthened mine [ 71 750 ] by bending a pc of 1/2 inch high tensile steel rod to the inside shape of the lower legs/cross bar. I welded it inside the 2 legs. Should not break again. Did the same with my 74 850.

ps I also made up new muffler mountings on the rhs to enable the muffler and pipe to come closer to the swing arm, and be a longer way from the kick starter

its been repaired several times by the look of it. One of the feet is rolled and the thing is twisted. The lever that should come out by the muffler is long gone.
its not steady at all. No structure left.
Basically its dangerous.

I don't think any of those stand were made to last 40 years. I have modified both mine no with above method. My earlier repairs by welding gussets into the top inside corners [ done before I had a better understanding of what was going wrong ] lasted a while, but that above is hopefully bullet proof. I also made up close fitting hat bushes for the pivots and bolted them tightly to the engine cradle to stop the crap occurring there as well . both bikes.
You stand could be repaired cheaper than buying a new one but without seeing a picture, I couldn't say.

When you live in the "Wap Wap's' you have to fix things as they happen, so my stand never got ripped to destruction.

The stand on my 71 fractured at the crossbar, performed a quick weld just to keep the bike standing until a new unit arrived. My advice is to order a new one from old britts, will be the later reinforced model.

Be sure to FULLY INSPECT the mounting holes, hardware and the surfaces it rest against when deployed for damage/wear.

another thing if you buy the new one is to take it to a welder and have a reinforcing washer welded on at the spring hole.

I am all in for a new stand, but will it clear the Dunstalls?

Well, failing anyone chiming in with actual experience, the Dunstall's appear only slightly larger OD than peashooters. I would expect the lever to clear. If it didn't, it would be 30 seconds simple to bend slightly to clear, not an issue if I was considering the job.
JMWO  YMMV

I've run the 27 inch Dunstalls off and on for years with the stock pipes and stand. I don't see you having any issue.

I don't have your particular era of Dunstall's. Mine are the early shorter one's and later longer one's with the removable baffles. Both have been on my '71 and '73 with no interference issues. I upgraded my '71 to the 850 center stand around '74. It's a better design.

My center stand seems fine .... however the section that curls up and shows at edge of silencer is missing and has been for many , many years ... as I age , putting bike up on the stand is getting difficult as I pull it backwards while keeping my foot against the 3" tab that is left .... can I buy the foot lever section and have it welded or do I just go to the welder and see what he comes up with .... maybe I could take a photo of a proper foot lever .... anyone have a name for this part .... thanks

I have the early original Dunstalls. Will the 850 stand work on my 71?
I need something I can walk away from the bike with confidence. My center stand is not that.
