Harley front wheel arrived today. The hub is perfect, a little machining of the width, and a bearing swap, and presto perfect. The RGM hub is $125 plus shipping. and I would still have to machine it. This one was $30 shipped. I love the bay!

The hub is also HD?

Nice!

(that rim is identical to the front one on my blue monoshocker; drop-center style)

the front and rear hubs are both harley, and cheap. 40 spoke aluminum. working perfect for my idea.

Just a FYI for anyone interested, the steel rims and spokes from both donor wheels are available. Make an offer if interested. Both in decent shape.

I found some weisco pistons that should work out great, 4466m07700, 4466m07800, 4933m07850. just trying to get some measurments from them to figure out rod length. I think i'm going to Ni-Com plate the cylinder bores on my aluminum barrel.

Hi Wolfie, a young buddy of mine who is building a Featherbed with norton commando inside, had fit an R6 yamaha front end and harley sporster front wheel like yours , what kind of rotor had you slip on??? Pierre

I drilled and tapped the hub to fit 93 GSXR rotors. they are 5 bolt like the harley, but the pattern diameter is about 1/8" larger.

why would even think of using the junkstall barrel after all the warnings about it in this thread? 1973-norton-commando-850-dunstall-opinions-needed-t7585.html
if virtualy every one that had one states they are trash you should head that advice and move on .

All of the problems I have seen people have are using the barrel in stock configuration. I'm not doing that. I am going to add 6 thru bolts, thread inserts, and not remove bore material. That addresses the concerns. As for you referring to it as "junkstall" I find that very disrespectful.

disrespectful or not it is well deserved if you look at all the previous post's, even T C and John Gregory gave up on his barrel after extensive modification . like some of the others on this forum I spent hard earned money on most of his trash. some of it was good thinking but poor execution like the power exhaust, mine broke at the head pipe flange in short order and had a hard time keeping the front joint together but it did make better mid range power and had a good sound when it was in one piece. the front fairing is another one IMHO poor mounting system for it and the headlight also. so yea I have no use for his stuff and yes I did buy almost every thing in the catalog.

Bill is trying to save you grief. I have some DMTR alum barrels (much better) on mine and they work OK but still will weep oil if it's cold and I push the motor, this after about 10 times off and on fixing stuff. Until I found that torque plates were mandatory for bore or hone. They are not a bolt on, so try to heed advice of those who have been there that's all. On Tridents the bolt pattern is way out from the liners not so here that is the source of much of the grief. The oil return holes can link to the counter bores for the through bolts too so watch for this. A thread insert on the small holes near the push rod tunnel is also a must do.

I should have the swingarm completed by tuesday night. It's turning out better than I hoped. The GSXR adjusters work excellent. It also looks like I can fit a 150/60-17 on the back. I'll take some measurments this weekend, so I can order rims, spokes and tires next week. Dennis Kirk has free shipping till the 17th. I'll get the tires from them. Spokes from Buchanons. And I found someone on E-bay that sells rims.

man, you're making me want to go out and finish mine, but then I think about the cold haha

When you are checking the setup be sure to mock up the chain. It's usually the chain that limits tire size in the back.

Well I thought I would get away from it, but last night I sat down with pencil paper and a calculator, yes folks I did some math. With my tire size and gearing, we're looking at 125mph in 4th gear at 7000 rpm. 70 mph in 4th works out around 3900 rpm. Another number I worked out was 895. as in cc's. Looks like my barrel will be running 80mm pistons. A happy side affect of my plan. I'm excited to see how it all goes together. I talket to Marino from MAP this week, they are brining steel H beam rods to market in the next few months. the more people ask him the sooner they happen. and as a bonus they are the same price as the aluminum billet ones they sell, $180.00. So as I plan for now I have my 75 modified crank, going with long rods and short pistons. Lighter weight rotating assembly. That coupled with a 2s cam and my GSXR 36mm flatslide carbs. I have some titanium valves, keepers and spring caps to modify to fit. Plus I found some springs that should work good. All NASCAR stuff. and it was cheap. Plus enough leftover to give my XS some Ti parts. Should be a good combination, because I can.

Hey it could still labeled 900 being as honest as Norton. I expect the almost 900 will like the 2S cam and come on came sooner than a Combat. Marino has had a deep hand in my past Ms Peel, glad he's part of your project. The air flow splits around front of engine then slaps back together behind it about where carb mouths are in case that helps a filter arrangement. Custom work is always special.
