I am looking for the bits that attach the oil tank to the frame and the front of the tool tray. Looks like it might be one of the Norton "special" bolts. Or maybe just a rubber bung and washers to hold the oil tank securely. Pictures would help. I checked on the drawings on the Andover Norton site, but they are for the slim line tool tray which is completely different. Does anyone have a parts list showing this area or can point me to a link?

Hi - hope this helps . I have a 1956 wideline 99 in bits that I will be starting to assemble in a month or two and plan on posting it here.
I also have Roy Bacons book on restoring Norton twins - I’ll have a look through and see if anything in there might help.
You may find help on UK based Norton Owners Club site.

Addendum - while there is no illustration showing the oil tank here is the page listing it’s components

Hi RIchard
I don't have that book. I have 49-55
Looking to see if the 56+ shows a different cam PN than D12/790 which is the first NHT cam .49-55
I'm trying to find the PN for the "daytona" cam which is the next version factory cam, but is followed by the later "QR" guieting ramp version (in my 1959 /500).
Any chance of a copy?
TIA

Hi Dave - here is only page with cam info . D 12 / 790 is only number listed . There are no illustrations/ exploded drawings of any engine components. Hope this helps but it doesn’t look like it will . You are likely aware of the Main-Smith photocopy reprints of all these old manuals - very extensive and affordable. Perhaps they have a workshop manual that might contain more info . The UK based NOC may be able to help - I will be happy to post a question for you if you are not a member. LMK - RT

Richard, Thanks very much for the reply. It helps but not exactly what I was needing. The parts list doesn't show the picture I need. And there may have been subtle year to year changes between 56 & 59. For instance the 59 has four bolts mounting the tool tray to the frame. The parts list shows only two bolts. Plus the connection between the oil tank and the tool tray (if there is one). MY Model 50 looks like it has some connection between the oil tank mount and the tool tray. At least the holes align although I am missing what goes through, if anything.

In the near future I will be dry fitting my 56 wideline 99 which I bought in “ large lumps “ some years back . I plan on posting the project here under Norton Motorcycle Rebuilds including shots of the parts so perhaps we can help each other . I would love to have a wideline single - any chance of posting pics of yours ?

No problem, but it may take a week or two. Beauty shots or details of a particular area? I have a 1960 Model 50 - The last of the Widelines and a Slimline ES2 project that is nearing completion.

Beauty shots for now would be nice and details when I get into assembling if needed - thanks . Here is my ES2
