Norton trouble

I agree with this is in the main, my comment was more along the lines of the three notable good guys I dealt with who left in the last year/18m... maybe they left because they could see what was happening, weren’t comfortable complying, and therefore were left with no choice but to leave. There will be the majority on the shop floor (who I didn’t deal with) who were blissfully unaware for sure.
They had to be unaware or the sham would not work. He needed innocent unaware employees for his background scam to work. When they twigged they left or got the boot.
It would be interesting to find out about one employee who went to employment tribunal last year that suddenly seemed to have been settled out of court when the judge ordered over 40 signatures to be examined by a hand writing expert. The initial hearing can be found online.

No replies to my question??...So I will ask again in case it was overlooked...has anyone either got or seen a document published by BDO stating that Norton owns 6 Aston Martins?..The Press have quoted it, people on here and Twitter have quoted it...so where is it?..someone must have a copy...unless of course it's just a load of BS???..Until somebody shows me some evidence of this document I dont believe it exists ( I Will happily apologise and admit I am wrong if the evidence appears)...So if thats turns out to be nothing but BS...what else that we are reading about this escapade is?

The BDO report is written for prospective buyers and not for general release, to obtain a copy you need to be a viable buyer or have press credentials.

For people to be quoting it someone must have seen it and have a copy...(obviously everything the press write is always true!)...I am still in the same position, until I see a copy I don't believe it exists...waiting eagerly to be proved wrong.

Then email BDO and ask for a copy.

If you are a customer or supplier of Norton Motorcycles please email NMcomms@BDO.co.uk for information. The administrators are taking all necessary steps to ensure that customers, staff and suppliers are supported and want to minimise distress for all involved.

I am not really interested in buying Norton or a member of the press, why doesn't one of the many people quoting it..just post a copy of the relevant part they are quoting?...should be fairly simple to do.

Well it’s pretty obvious Dannyy that everyone on here is quoting from the press as I don’t think we have any regular posters on here who are serious potential buyers of Norton (could be wrong however).

You raise a fair point though, we only have the word of the press re the prestige car fleet story, and as someone else has said, they may not even have belonged to Norton, so there could very well be another side to this part of the story.

In the scheme of things though, this part of the story is a sideshow quite frankly. The bigger topics of screwed customers, suppliers, investors, pensioners, employees, are all very well backed up by evidence...

Then people are not quoting "facts"...the are quoting things that are misleading...lots of people are talking about the "6 Aston Martins" the press claim to be in the report by BDO...show me the report and I will believe it...until I see it I do not believe it exists. If people are happy to quote this, which zero evidence exists of to my knowledge so far...then how much of the rest of what is being reported is also BS?...thats all I am trying to say...Why do people believe and quote the press who are renowned for talking rubbish?

You say "In the scheme of things though, this part of the story is a sideshow quite frankly. The bigger topics of screwed customers, suppliers, investors, pensioners, employees, are all very well backed up by evidence.."

1. Screwed Customers (of which you could class me as one if thats what you want to call it) ..If you pay any business for anything that you have not had and that business fails before delivery, you will be in this boat...Norton are not unique here...just a fact of business. Thats a risk you take when choosing to do that.

2. Suppliers ..same story as above...if you give a customer credit and that customers business fails...you are out of pocket...you should do your due diligence before offering credit...another simple fact of business...Norton are not unique here.

3. Investors...Who are the investors that have lost out?....Banks?...again same story as above...Banks should do their due diligence before offering credit...another simple fact of business...Norton are not unique here.

4.Pensions...the running of the Pension schemes is being looked in to by the Pensions Ombudsman..if there has been mismanagement or wrong doing this will come to light in due course.

5.Employees...If you work for a company that fails...unfortunately you are out of a job...again another simple fact of business...Norton are not unique here.

We on here are all supposedly Norton lovers...rather than reveling in them failing and sensationalizing it...and attacking the management shouldn't we just all be hoping a satisfactory solution to all this can be found?

Lots of negativity surrounding SG (For obvious reasons if people believe everything the read)
But lets not forget because of SG running Norton
the 961 Commando was brought to market
the 961 Domiracer was brought to market
the 961 Dominator was brought to Market
the V4SS was brought to market
Had the Atlas had chance to get there too....I don't think we would all be on here getting over excited about 6 Aston Martins which I still don't believe exist!!!

Maybe, maybe ..... what's the use of posting speculations? That's an ugly and annoying habit. Nobody has accused factory fitters of any wrong doing, to my knowledge. Let's stick to facts. If you want to post the thruth about why these individuals left the company, then go and ask them. Good workers will always be in demand, and seeking new opportunities is legit.

What has happened to this once excellent forum? The 'troubles' at Norton seem to have brought all the 'told you so' trolls out of the woodwork, folk who never contributed to this 'modern' group in the past, or ex-owners who just want to chip away as a means of relieving pent up frustration. Norton is just another example of a company that had a future, had employees that were good at what they did, but run at the top by the wrong management team. Apart from constantly talking about the weather, the other thing that us Brits are infamous for is kicking folk when they are down (literally, but alas physically too if you are sleeping rough on the streets). What happens next is of little concern to me as I can do naff all about it. 'Two Jags Prescott, '6 Astons Garner'... you can add '3 motorbikes Martin' to the list, and no, I won't divulge where the money came from

BDO quoted it . . . . . . . . .

This is a discussion forum and nowhere in the rules does it say we need to stick to facts and never stray in to speculation. Indeed of all the forums I contribute to this is the case. I have no motive to this speculation, merely musing why apparently good employees would leave the company, which to my mind now has a more interesting angle given some of the alleged shady goings on.

There are ALWAYS at least two side to a story, even after ‘facts’ have been presented.

You are taking the more cautious / optimistic side Dannyy, which is entirely fair IMHO.

However, we can see that the majority on this forum (and I suspect elsewhere) have been tipped over the edge by recent events.

I confess I am one of them. I started out as a SG pessimist, then evolved into a ‘give him the benefit of the doubt’ type (and I put my money where my mouth is, buying a bike and ordering another).

But recent events, even if everything presented is not currently proven by fact, have tipped me into the negative zone again.

But that’s just me and all IMHO.

I totally understand that point of view...and if thats the view you choose its entirely up to you.
I try to base my view on facts presented, not hearsay and BS...and at the minute there seems to be very little in the way of facts being presented.

Several sources have quoted the content of the BDO report, choose to disregard the reports as rubbish if you like:

"As per ITV: “The document details that Norton owns a fleet of luxury cars including: six Aston Martins, three Range Rovers and an F-Type Jaguar. BDO values the collections at just under £800,000."
https://canadamotoguide.com/2020/02/13/after-nortons-collapse-uk-media/

"The comments came as a report, prepared by Norton’s administrators BDO for prospective buyers of the business, began to shed light on some of the more curious-looking decisions that appear to have been taken by the firm.
The document outlines how Norton owns a fleet of luxury vehicles, including six Aston Martins, three Range Rovers and an F Type Jaguar. According to the accountants, the car collection is worth close to £800,000."

The quote means nothing from the press they spend their lives talking BS if you choose to accept what they say that's your choice...show me a hard copy of the report...if it exists.. which I dont believe it does until somebody proves me wrong....which as yet nobody has been able to...and my guess is they never will.

True or false I just don't get the problem, if Norton owned them then that's fantastic news for some of those owed money too as I suspect the Astons will have held more residual value than our 961's!

Well, for me at least, IF it’s true then the problem is that it shows a lack sensible control of expenditure. And that makes me think the same lack of control would be prevalent elsewhere in the business.

But, like I said, IF...

My point is its NOT true...(Somebody prove me wrong)
If that's not true what else that were are reading is not true...and if I am correct by who and why was the rumour started?

We have no duty or even good reason to doubt the reports of extravagance and criminal fraud.

I like Norton bikes. That doesn’t mean I consider Garner and his associates to be better than the dirt under my feet.
