Wiring to kill switch MK111 commando

OOps!
RON.L Please disregard my last post I did not realise you had already answered my question

Either I need to find some new springs for my tensioners (see pictures on my blog archive) and whatever other components there are in those plungers
The spring in the top plunger was completely in pieces the bottom one was on the way to being the same and it does not look like these parts are sold separately
There was a bush inside each of the plungers one copper the other chrome and different sizes so it looked a bit bodgie and the manual is not very clear on the parts that make up the unit
L.A.B made the observation that the primary chain was worn out. This may have been due to the top tensioner having collapsed or it collapsed because it is worn out, knowing how these things go It will probably need to be replaced
The inside of the cog and the bush look fine, I Guess the technical data would specify the optimum length of links on the chain

I am a bit confused but it seems there is a belt drive option which retains the starter. Thanks L.A.B I will be going for the belt drive option

Cheers I am learning lots and enjoying the challenge so far

This is what you should have found.

From your blog photo, it would seem that a previous owner has added some spacers, probably in an attempt to increase the tensioner preload on what appears to be a slack primary chain? The result being that the plunger springs have become crushed by the action of the tensioner.

Thanks for correcting me L.A.B.! When I put my cafe bike together, I checked around and no one sold a belt drive that retained the e-start, but that was 20+ years ago.

Does anyone on the list have one of these with a working starter motor?

It all makes sense now why things are the way they are inside my primary and tensioner etc
I would be nuts not to go for the belt drive option but would like to hear if anyone else has anything to say about the belt drive with electric start
I have searched the web but have yet to find a relevant review
When I pulled the starter out there was a little oil in there + the other cogs etc would no doubt benefit from the lube. Or maybe these only rotate when the starter is activated?
In which case the occasional squirt of inox inside the primary would suffice?

Cheers Jed

Just to return to the kill switch issue; where do the white/red & white/yellow out leads connect to? These appear to be either end of the kill switch but I can't find the same color coded wires in the wiring harness. The only white to white double connecting block is full with leads to the handle bars and headlight.

Any ideas?

Are we talking about pre-MkIII switches and wiring?

If so, then white/red [WR] from the handlebar switch has no connection to the harness (check WR on your wiring diagram) as it was meant for an electric starter circuit (spare button).

If you follow the white/yellow [WY] from the handlebar switch on your wiring diagram it shows that it connects to white/blue [WU] which goes to the ballast resistor (points ignition).

A quick question in reference to the white plastic item inserted in the end of the spring in the photo:
is there another purpose for it or is it just a spring guide?
i.e. is it also intended to block off the common drilling between the two cylinders?
I can't see the big end and maybe it has a relief to pass the oil as the plunger collapses?
Thanking you in advance.
All the Best.
