Okay I went back and re-read to thread and new carb & Pipe are in the works------what about the 200cc motor that you could hace dropped in, wouldn't that have been more cost effective etc....later maybe that one could have been modded to 250 ? anyway cool project getting neater everyday. Hell, you'll probably have someone walk up to you sone day when you're out on it and offer to buy it off of you on the spot. :)
 
Its a pushrod? Ok, so more of a CG, than CB crib.
I have 'bucket' raced some of those little buggers, & from memory, the CG design had better stock porting/camming but once you ported & put a big cam [Yoshi or Powroll & etc] with stiff springs in the OHC Hondas they`d take more revs & give more top-end.
Of course an MX chassis is going to weigh more, it does have to be robust, & has proper suspension, but engine mass-wise, the KTMs would naturally be even more tiddly.
As for classic status, all those Yamaha sports twins with racing parallels , R/RD/RZ/TZR.. qualify as classics nowadays, & justly so, too.
 
That is (obviously) a very different bike - looks more like a clone of the ohc series, with leccy start grafted on ?
Some of those things were little rockets. Even more so with a cam...
 
Well, Rohan, if its a poppet valve 4-stroke, its not going to run very well without a cam, is it?
Which is not to say that designs which dont need `em... dont rocket even harder..

I guess that would not be a legal issue in your area, but I reckon Aussie cops would likely get stupid about the names being different, on bike - to rego details.
Does anyone know if mighty Honda gets all 'Disney'-like [legal writs to cease & desist & etc] about brand name mis-use matters?

A mate of mine put Ducati tank strickers on his other-wise unaltered XR 500 Honda, but purely as a joke..& got derided for it by fans of both makes..
Fair-enough I suppose if its a badge engineering deal like AMC/Norton/Matchless & etc, or a special that combines major components from different makers -but bogus labels?
I think they reveal more about the mind of the perpetrator, esp` if its for a con-job.
 
well, back together a few problems, the inlet valve was touching the piston so I had to fly cut the relief a bit deeper, started it with the standard 26mm carb which is nothing special, it has a 20m slide, so I made a manifold and fitted one of those 30mm 'D" slide carbs which seem to be popular now, I have a couple of these on some of my other bikes and they are pretty good, only $60, debaffled the muffler, now its a bit loud, so some rebaffling and lots of tuning ahead of me, but it sure does sound promising,
125/150, big cam, bigger valves, ported head,. new CDI and new coil to fit yet.

Hey, I got here first, before 'someone' made a stoopid comment.

So I'll ask a (not so) stoopid question.
How do you 'rebaffle' a muffler. ?
 
well I removed the end of the muffler and removed existing baffles and welded the end back on with a less restrictive baffle inside, but its a bit loud, so I'll operate again,no big deal.
