whats in the box

Sat on a Triumph backwards once when I came out of the store with the milk or whatever .
Doug at the throttle was a bit quick of the mark . :? Next thing we new it in third still accelerateing .
Lucky it was straight & we lived only up the hill a quater mile or so . Freezeing was sufficent for the moment .

Does Rohan have to roll backwards downhill due to not having any of his motorbikes actually functioning?
Perhaps he should liquidate his mouldering shed-bound Commando & buy a Madass tiddler?
Matt, tell us about your current ride..

its very hard to keep a topic on topic on this forum due to.......................

TLS front brake is a nice touch. It looked good right out of the box to me but now it's really starting to shine. thanks for posting, Cj

Amen.

The worst bit is they generally contribute nothing.
Once you take away all the smert-ass comments and LOLs, there is nothing left...

I have thought hard about blocking members in the past and this one "X.X.X." is a real strong contender.
Just to keep things in context, I like whats in the box.

Rohan is quite right!
I`ll wager that over on the the Wood Screws Forum they dont have to put up with such jackanapes, tom-foolery or sillybuggers..
& over on the Chinese Tiddlers Tart-Up Forum, likely, such attempts at levity or jocularity are stictly modelated too..

"X.X.X." now who could 'this one' be?
Surely not L.A.B.? - L.O.L.?
[ But - if it is me,- feel free to P.M. me about it]..

Seriously though, but if we`re gonna be all anal about it, this thread topic belongs in the Motorcycle Related dept, since it aint a classic as such..

No need for a P.M. J.A.W., This is a norton Commando forum, most of us visit this forum because we are interested in reading about; Commandos, Nortons, classic bikes and things in general to do with motorcycles and riding - more or less in that order. Generally most of us like a bit of a laugh and don't take life too seriously but the constant posting of extraneous comments plus your ongoing fued with Matt Spencer - even if this is actually a bit of insider banter between mates - has started impinging on my following and enjoying those threads that are of particular interest to me. I am sure that there is a wealth of knowledge about Nortons in Australia, as well as specific challenges that occur there that would certainly be of interest to me, so please do continue to contribute when you have something of value to add.

Ta, Dave.
I have taken on board L.A.B.s positive moderation points like-wise, & pleasingly, Matt Spencer seems to pulled his head in some, too.

might rip the motor out and start on that this weekend

Have you taken it for a spin around the block yet, to at least see how it goes and feels ?

And found some HRC decals for the tank....

It performs better than I thought and better than other 125's here, I reckon I'll get about 50% more power out of it with the mods, actually I got some nice Honda "winged" tank stickers which I'll probably fit, bought just for this project,

bigger is better, no? bore and stroke is now 62.5 x 49.5 should be a little revver

Well, madass140, here are some figures from other tiddlers to aim for, from Motocross Action mag, Nov`12;
They put the KTM 125SX [54mm x 54.5mm = 124.8cc] & 150SX [56mm x 58.4mm = 143.6cc] on the dyno.
125 maxed out : 34.66hp @ 11,200rpm & 16.41ft/lb @ 11,000rpm.
150 maxed out : 38.83hp @ 11,000rpm & 18.46ft/lb @ 10,900rpm.

if you look closely , very closely at the bikes you are referring to , you will notice they are 2 strokes, as opposed to mine which is a 4 stroke, keep studying ol buddy.
I' sure those KTM's would be great for every day commuting.

Yes I did notice that, & you`d probably have some difficulty matching those outputs without serious measures on a 4-stroke.
They are tiddlers though, & quite tractable, only weighing ~206lbs.
In the report, Roger DeCoster was quoted as stating: "It takes more talent to ride a 2-stroke fast than a 4-stroke"..
I commute on a 2-stroke..but not quite such a tiddler, although it is a classic, an RZ 350 Yamaha..

well , I never had any intention or expectations of getting that sort of HP from a 125 pushrod single made in China, although I reckon I will probably increase HP by 40-50% going on my past efforts with 125's
my bike weighs 190lbs.
""It takes more talent to ride a 2-stroke fast than a 4-stroke"
it certainly does, I'm living proof of that.
I didnt realize the RZ350 was a classic bike, maybe an R5 .

Damn Madass you didn't waste any time pulling it apart. Is there a different carb & pipe your gonna put on it with this bigger barrel/piston kit.
