Hi,
Can any one tell me the weight of the 850 engine complete? With or Without Carbs, and not including the gear box or primary casings.
Thanks Guys

I think last time I shipped one they nicked me for about 120 lbs with a wooden crate. Jim

Hi,

Just sent one out today.

Complete 850 engine, barrel, head, all covers, no primary, no carbs, nothing else in the box.

-85lbs

With our steel crate 148lbs....ouch. The UPS driver absolutely loves this thing

A 63 lb. crate, wow, you must have let Gary build it.

Yup, heavy little buggers. Girlfriends just LOVE to help stuff an engine in the frame too.

Matt, I'm sure that crate would have been lighter if you used the proper wood screws. :D

Jim,

You know me....the crate is powder coated Bright Red as well. Looks like a fire hydrant on steriods !

UPS max out at 150 lbs so I figured I will build it as strong and with as much steel as I can since the UPS drivers havent been known to move our packages with 'silk gloves'. As a matter of fact I think they do much of their sorting with bulldozers at their warehouses.

...and yes Coco....Remember those little guys....and not having the proper tool (since I think you have to be a Canadian citizen in order to own one)

Bad time of year for packages. My family had 2 of 2 boxes from ups delivered this week that were ripped open. I think the temp workers just throw them...

Interesting to hear the engine weights. I know I can just barely lift one myself, and that's without the head.

When I built the 850 and it was time to put the motor in, I got help. I had the guys position the motor while I put the motor mount bolts in. It's a job that requires a little teamwork!

148 lbs for a CNW crate motor - wow. I wouldn't even be able to push it across the floor. It's a good thing I'm not their UPS driver!
