Warning light assimilator

I have no red charging light and Maybe I never had one.I have been running the bike for five years no problem .A friend pointed it out to me so I guess I can try the bulb but I see mention of a assimilator and it costs 37.00 but I have no idea what it looks like and no idea where it goes.

The assimilator is plugged into the wiring loom under the tank, I don't think the original ones are very reliable and can cause problems if they short inside. RGM motors sell a solid state charging light warning unit, that actually indicates when battery voltage is below a certain level at which point the light comes on. I use these units on my bikes rather than the original assimilator.

Works great for me. $20.
Make sure you get the proper one for either positive or negative ground, which ever setup you have on your bike.
