Spitfire died on me today on the way home, started missing then eventually stopped firing on one cylinder. Roadside check showed that all seemed ok, fuel, compression, even the diagnostic check of the trispark rotor fired both plugs clean and strong. But nothing to get her going on more than one pot. Towed home, leak down test showed less than 10% on both jugs... OK, fuel lines check... all clear, trispark diagnostic check... again OK. So I thought, WTF, maybe the timing slipped somehow. So I went to reset the Trispark... no light, hmmmmm, may be the rotor slipped??? It's possible I guess, remove stator plate and this is what I find, one of the rotor magnets had worked its way loose and migrated to the back, luckily it didn't completely come loose. I pushed it back in to level with front and put a drop of super glue down the bore. Four trisparks and I've never had an issue, but this is certainly not something I've heard of before. So the take away is that if you're having odd and hard to explain firing issues with a Trispark installed, check the magnets! The diagnostic check obviously doesn't identify this problem
