Question for the group. Is there such a thing as a thicker than stock composite head gasket? Don't want to use copper but so far that is all I'm seeing.

Hi Confused,

Older style composite gaskets from Andover were .75mm (~.030"), but now they only supply 1mm composite gaskets, which actually measure very close to .040" - very comparable to the thickness of a stock copper gasket.

Or you could go custom one off from Cometic.

Kenny,
Have you ever used a Cometic head gasket and if so how did it work out? I believe with the older .75 mm composite I am running around 9.1 compression, if I have to use a 1.0 mm gasket I drop down to around 8.5. Something I would rather not do.

I think the standard flame ring composite gaskets are 1.00 mm due to some failures of the .75 mm examples.
