I have a Commando 750 cylinder head which has been radically skimmed by a previous owner. After fitting there is no available adjustment at the tappet adjusters. I’m looking to source a thicker than standard copper head gasket but apart from JS Motorsports in USA I couldn’t locate a Uk supplier. The standard gasket measures 0.040” thick, I am looking for 0.062” or may resort to fitting two gaskets.
Would appreciate any leads to a Uk source, thanks.

Jim ships fast and a head gasket is cheap to ship. I use his gaskets on 920 and 1007 motors. They’re good.

I used two copper head gaskets which worked. Eventually I went with one gasket and shorter pushrods. Watch out for the aluminum head gaskets which just continue to squish out.

I got the idea of various thickness head gaskets from Ron Wood who told me that he used to mill standard copper head gaskets down to .020" thick for his flat track racer. His motors evolved to short strokes with standard alum rods so he had to bring the head way down by milling the head, cases and cylinders and of course a thinner HG. The cases required time inserts to prevent the threads from pulling out.

Jim, your gasket selection is a fabulous service for Norton owners.

One can select from 0.003” to 0.085” total thickness with many incremental steps between the two by selecting different head gasket options and base gasket.

This mean folk can fix past over skimming, or achieve the effects of skimming, all with little or no matching required.

I always keep a few options in stock so I can play around with CR and squish when building motors.
