Swing Arm Mounting Question

There is a nice looking MK3 cradle and swing arm on eBay at $250.
That gives you the strongest swing arm and the sturdiest swing arm to cradle connection plus a sealed pivot.
Others here have utilized a MK3 cradle and swing arm on an earlier bike, so it is possible, but it would require some modification.
I suspect that all you need to do with the cradle is slot out the top transmission hole to allow for primary chain adjust ( auto adjust on MK3)
Using a drum brake wheel with the Mk3 swing arm might require some head scratching and a bit of fabrication.

Thanks Glen but I have two leads on cradles at very reasonable prices from a couple of nice guys on this forum. I love this place! I have an 850 swing arm and center stand, just need the correct cradle.

Or just mail TK and get a cradle that will more then likely just bolt in.
Then get a swing arm that will attach to it with no drama.

If its just a run around bike for local short distance rides you don't need a ceramic bearing swing arm or 'chrome plated grease nipples and double reverse overhead twin cam door handles.

New cradle came today! This one looks MUCH better.

My rear wheel is being delivered and I’m picking up my sandblasted on Saturday. I’ll be able to blast all these parts and MAYBE get a first coat of paint. It’s going to be good painting weather this weekend. Maybe 65 degrees.

Thanks to Dave on this site who hooked me up with a great cradle and shot it out to me I’m a couple of days. Thanks Dave!!!

That clevis looks like a Moto Guzzi part. (Rear brake)

You might want to sort the bronze pivot bushes out sooner than later as they normally need work regarding the pivot. (Not install the bushes and the pin then being a sliding fit out of the box)

Don't forget the cup flanges that hold the O-rings that go between the swing arm end and bronze bush.

I’m aware, there’s a set on eBay, but I have to pace myself. I. Spending a lot quickly.

It adds up so fast...

So I have my cradle and swing arm and I have a question.

In the parts manual there is a shaft that goes through the cradle and the swing arm bushings mount on to it.

Looking at my cradle, where the shaft is supposed to be is a threaded rod.

What am I missing? Is that rod for an older mount? That can’t be because this cradle is for an 850 as it has the holes for the oil filter.

Can someone help me understand how this goes together?

When the cradle came, it had two bolts in the threads with ball bearings on it, but that doesn’t seem right.

Thoughts???

The pictures are not clear enough to be sure, but I would be on the lookout for a good cradle. Those threads don't belong there and the surface in that are will likely leak if you do get it together. There's just a fairly thin o-ring that seals to that area. It kind of looks like someone welded in a threaded tube. Post a measurement of the hole size.
