ss model serial #

I have a 71 norton with serial# 145685 (matching). My question is I have read that these numbers fall in between the models that were ss.Others articles Ive read say no. Any help would be appreciated. thanks

The information I have shows that your serial number falls within the range of 'SS" build. Keep in mind that Norton simply placed the tanks/seats/pipes/fenders on the common rolling chassis, so models were not in any sequence. The only way it can be determined if a specific serial number was built as a roadster, SS, or fastback would be to check the actual build records. The NOC is currently trying to transcribe these and may be able to help if that is what you are trying to find.
