sparx 1 or 3 phase?

was wondering if there are any opinions when upgrading the rotor and stator to go for a 1 phase or 3 phase sparx? i have a 73 850 commando with a boyer, stock electical components. i have a un-sealed standard sized yuasa battery. i want to run a halogen headlight kit. i live in a rural area where you have to drive 25 mph through town, otherwise i am moving. from what i have read, if 3 phase the best location for the regulator is in front of the battery tray? any info and thoughts would be appreciated. thanks, jerome
 
Go for the three phase option you can bumble around town and still maintain a good charge. I would think the regulator can go anywhere providing it's in an air stream.
